Some Biographical Information on Anne Russell II

Member of Religious Society of Friends. She graduated first in class from Abington Friends' Boarding and Day School, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in 1891. (She began the year in October as second in class, continued in this position until the final report in June, when she was named first.) She was attending The Woman's College of Baltimore in December, 1891; in the report dated December 22, 1891, she received the mark of "Passed with Honor" in Latin, Greek, French, Bible, and Elocution. She received her B.A. from Goucher College, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1895. She spent a summer studying in France in 1903 and studied for a year at The Sorbonne in Paris, France, in 1926, when she lived at 11 Rue Scribe. At one time, while either visiting or studying in Paris, she lived at 40 rue de Liège. She taught French and Latin at George School, Newtown, Bucks Co., PA., beginning in 1899 as an assistant to Miss Lange in French and German, until her retirement and continued to keep the house in New Market, Maryland, in which she was born, as her home. She was a member of Pipe Creek Monthly Meeting of Baltimore Yearly Meeting. Buried in Methodist Episcopal Cemetery, New Market, Maryland.
