Obituary.--E. Louis Jackson was born May 3rd, 1863, and
died Jan. 28th, 1892, at his home near Piedmont, W. Va. of
consumption. During the last few years he was a great
sufferer, and when the Master's call to depart came, it was
gladly obeyed. How sad to die when just in the bloom of
manhood, but what a consolation to the bereaved relatives
and friends to know he is with the Saviour, where no sorrow,
no change or decay can over come. He bid his friends good
bye, asking them not to grieve, but to meet him in heaven.
The funeral services were held at the residence of his aunt,
Mrs. S. Barr, near Winchester, and were conducted by Revs.
Miller and Strother. The pall-bearers were selected by the
deceased. A large number of friends followed his remains to
their final resting place in Mt. Hebron.
Gone are the hopes once cherished,
Faded the flowers of yore;
He that I loved has perished,
Passed to the other shore.
Forget him, O! when life shall cease
To thrill this heart of mine,
And not till then will I forget
One look or tone of him.
Forget him, 'tis a bitter word,
I would it were unsaid;
Forgetfulness is not of life,
But with the silent dead.
