Robinson Sutton
     NEWPORT NEWS -- On Wednesday, April 23, 2008, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mary Louise Robinson Sutton, passed away, surrounded by her loving family.
     Mary was born on April 18, 1919, in Hampton, the daughter of Charles William Robinson and Mary Hardesty Robinson. She was a devout Presbyterian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newport News where she served as the President of the Women of the Church, a circle leader and a member of the choir. She was presented with an Honorary Life Membership in the Women of the Church, Presbyterian Church, U.S. in 1979. Mary was a member of the Women's Club of Newport News for over 50 years, where she was an active member of their choral group.
     Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Horace Leland Sutton Jr.; her three children and their spouses who adored her, Mary Sue Richardson and husband, Walter Richardson, of Newport Beach, Calif., Horace Leland Sutton III and wife, Judith Steele Sutton, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Winifred Sutton Stratton and husband, Clifton Jairus Stratton, of Seattle, Wash.; and three loving grandchildren, Clifton, Leland and Carter Stratton.
     A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at The Chesapeake Retirement Community with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
     Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Horace L. Sutton Jr.
     NEWPORT NEWS - Horace Leland Sutton Jr., 95, died on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at a local hospital.
     He was a native of Kinston, N.C., and a Peninsula resident since 1938. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 44 years of service in engineering and construction operations. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newport News, where he served as deacon and elder. At the closure of First Presbyterian, he transferred to Hidenwood Presbyterian Church.
     His wife of 66 years, Mary Robinson Sutton, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Mary Sue Richardson (Walter) of Newport Beach, Calif., Horace Leland Sutton III (Judy) of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Winifred Ann Stratton (Jairus) of Seattle, Wash.; his sister, Helen Joyner of Williamsburg; and his grandchildren, Clifton, Leland, and Carter Stratton of Seattle, Wash.
     A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at The Chesapeake Retirement Community, with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
