The Care of Mr. Moses McKay

Crooked Run Decr 2nd 1827

Dear Joshua,

I have been several days thinking of writing to you but have not until now commenced it until now.

I have nothing now to write of Importance or Interesting. We recieved your Letter Informing us of the Death of our much Esteemed Relation Levi which was Indeed a shock, he was Indeed a Relation I very much Respected and a young man of as good (In many Respects) morals and nice sence of honour as was common, but he is gone and the Judge of the whole earth will do right.

I wish you If you please to attend the payment of the case on the Land that Brother Jesse conveyed to me adjoining George McKays part of which is in Green County and some in Clinton, you understand it better than I can Inform you, as well I can Recollect there was some mistake in the Quantity in Green probably the whole amount was in Green and still a part in Clinton you paid So it is I want you to arrainge it and pay it, and I will send the money out by Bernard as he expects to be out shortly & also Joseph McKay or some other person, we have been making arraingements for some time to come out we did not receive the Information of the deth of Levi for a good while after it took place the letters were in Winchester several weeks before we got them, it is our wish if it can be accomplished that Jesse Wood should succeed Levi in the administration.

If that is not possible I want his Brother in Laws or the same that undertakes his buying to undertake both, We have wrote on to Chillicothe.

I hope you will attend to and arrainge the tax Should none of us come out I will send the money by mail or some how shortly and pay you for all your trouble.

We have had a good deal of sickness in our Neighbourhood this season but not so fatal as was last my family is well and our Relations is generally well now Uncle and Aunt as well as common.

James Antram & wife has ague every Third day Washington McKay and his family is some of them sick yet, they have had a sick family, give my best Respects to your family and all our Connections.

Inform Moses McKay that we are all well. Robert is well, Brother John has had a sick family he was himself very sick his land was a______ of for several days he has got to riding about. yours Very Respectfully,

Jacob McKay

Joshua Yoe Esquire
