McKAY CLAN HAS
REUNION HERE

     The 14th annual reunion of the McKay clan was held at the Virginia Gentleman Club, Front Royal, on July 26. Seventy-four members were present, guest coming from Richmond, Alexandria, Arlington, Luray, Front Royal, Purcellville, Millwood, Winchester and Bedford, Hyattsville, Severna Park and Silver Spring, Md. and Washington.
     The management of the Virginia Gentleman Club served a buffet luncheon and provided swimming facilities. A gala time was reported.
     A business meeting was called by the president of the clan, J. Brownley McKay. Prayer was offered by Winston McKay. There was special recognition for Mrs. Isabelle McKay Hicks, Mrs. Lucy McKay Ray, and Hubert McKay for their outstanding work and interest in behalf of the McKay clan.
     Candidates elected included Perry Mowbray president, Mrs. Mary Hause vice president, Mrs. Ruby McKay secretary-treasurer.
     Later in the afternoon, members of the clan visited the recently dedicated Confederate museum in Front Royal. The interesting memorials and relics connected with the War Between the States were viewed, including the McKay memorial, which was made possible by donations from the clan.
     The next McKay clan reunion will be held at the Virginia Gentleman Club on the fourth Sunday in July 1960.

     A business meeting was called to order by the presiding President of the Clan, J. Brownley McKay, and words of prayer were offered by Mr. Winston McKay. Special recognition was extended to Mrs. Isabelle McKay Hicks, Mrs. Lucy McKay Ray and Mr. Hubert McKay for their outstanding work and interest in behalf of the McKay Clan. Candidates elected to office next year include President: Mr. Perry Mowbray, Vice President: Mrs. Mary Hause, Secretary- Treasurer: Mrs. Ruby McKay.

Plaque Honouring McKay Veterans of the Confederacy

Below is the inscription displayed on a plaque located in the Warren Rifles Confederate Museum above the doorway inside the main display area just as you are leaving the room. Visiting this museum is an excellent opportunity to view artifacts from the Civil War and get some appreciation of our family's involvment in this great conflict.
