McKay Reunion

     The annual Reunion of the McKay family was held on Sunday. September 12th at Skyland. Va. with about 80 members present from nearby states.
     After luncheon served by the Management, a group picture was made and a social hour enjoyed with impromptu talks and awarding of prizes.
     The business meeting was then in order. A matter of public interest on the agenda, was that of family representation in the Confederal Museum due to be erected soon in Front Royal by Warren County. A committee of three members---John Rust of Fairfax. Va., Randolph Barbee of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Lucy McKay Ray of Severna Park, Md., was appointed to select a suitable Memorial for the eleven McKays who served in the Confederate Army. The sum of $500 was ap- propriated for this purpose.
     The meeting adjourned after the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President Marshall Gore of Washington. D. C., Vice-president, Randolph Barbee of Washington, and Secretary and Treasurer, Mrs. Isabelle Brockman of Arlington. Va.

McKAY CLAN HOLDS
REUNION ON DRIVE

     The ninth annual McKay reunion was held Sunday, September 12, at Skyland Recreation Center. Seventy-nine descendants of Robert McKay, who settled in the Valley of Virginia near Cedarville, Virginia in 1732, were present. Everyone agreed that this was one of the most enjoyable occasions since the Clan was organized.
     A delicious lunch was served by the concession at the Skyland Recreation Center and during luncheon Mr. Beverly B. McKay, a close relative of Robert McKay, was called upon to speak. Mr. McKay's remarks were interesting, informative and humorous.
     A brief business session presided over by the Honorable John Rust, followed. Prizes were awarded for traveling the longest distance and bringing the most people to the meeting. These were won by Mrs. John Miller from Stamford, Conn. and Mrs. Lucy McKay Ray. Door prizes went to Mrs. Nancie Evans, Mrs. Jesse McKay and Strohm Evans. Samples of the McKay plaid were presented to each family present by Mrs. Henry McKay.
     A motion was made and carried that a committee be appointed to study the advisability of purchasing a memorial in the proposed Confederate Museum.
     A vote of thanks was given to those who had made the meeting such a success. Officers elected for the ensuing year are Marshall Gore, president; Randolph Barbee, vice president; Isabelle McKay Brockman, secretary and treasurer.

     About one hundred attended the McKay family reunion at Skyland last Sunday with the bulk coming from Maryland. Virginia and Washington, D. C. One member of the family came from Connecticut. All report a very successful annual gathering.
