200 Attend
Collett-McKay
Family Reunion
The annual Collett-McKay picnic was held Saturday in the usual picnic area on Gurneyville Rd. The record that is kept of attendance each year by the signing of a register by those present indicates that this is the 97th annual reunion of the two families which were united by four marriages between the years 1830-1923. (In the above paragraph, 1830-1923 should read as 1823-1830.)
More than 200 enjoyed the picnic dinner and the visiting which followed much in the traditions of the earliest reunions. However the different mode of travel changed the aspect of the scene. Also the absence of the water barrel once very much in evidence has been noted for the last few years.
While most of those attending were from Warren, Green and Clinton Counties and numerous towns and cities throughout Ohio, a few came from out of the state. These included Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sell (Mary Magee) and family; Michael and John Allen Lane, Cherry Hill, N. J.; Collie and Ronnie Vandenberg, Milan, Michigan, Faye Orelup, Lawrence, Kansas; Ann B. Baugh (Mrs. Richard Baugh) and daughter, Adele Elizabeth, Santa Barbara, Calif.
