COLLETT-M'KAY PICNIC

__________

Saturday, at the usual place, occurred the annual Collett-McKay picnic, one of the largest family gatherings in the county. The traditional good weather prevailed, though a storm at the noon hour delayed for a time the bountiful dinner. the afternoon was spent in visiting, as no programme is ever prepared for the picnic. The three members of the family who boast never to have missed a reunion in the forty-nine years it has been held--B. Y. Collett, Ed. S. Collett and Mrs. Robert McKay--were present and enjoyed the occasion as much as if it had been their first experience. There were, perhaps, as many from a distance as usual and altogether the day was a very enjoyable one. Next year will mark a half century in the history of the annual reunion and there will be planned a more elaborate celebration of the day.--Wilmington Journal.

The forty-ninth annual Collett McKay picnic on Saturday was attended by more than two hundred and fifty people. The attendance varies but little either way from year to year. The weather was hardly so good as usual on Saturday, a rain coming up just before the dinner was ready to be spread, but shelter was found by all present in the many automobiles and carriages on the grounds, and the family visiting was uninterrupted by the elements. When the dinner was finally laid it was even beyond the standard of the two old families, and was a very enjoyable feature of the occasion. There were a number of visitors from a distance, some of whom had not before attended the picnic. Next year will be the semi-centennial of the annual gathering.
