BURLINGTON, O--A large number of the members of the McKay and Collett families were present Saturday at the annual family reunion which was held in a grove a short distance south of Burlington. The families that are closely related through intermarriage were the first in Clinton county to hold a reunion and establish it as an annual affair. For forty-six years the reunions have been held without the weather ever having seriously interfered with the outdoor affair. The weather man favored the family again Saturday by holding off a heavy shower until after the delicious and bountiful dinner had been disposed of. Members of the family were present from points all over the state, and the occasion was one of great pleasure. Mr. Frank Collett, who was in attendance Saturday, has not missed a reunion in the 46 years that they have been held. Both the McKay and Collett families were pioneer residents in Greene county and Clinton, coming from Virginia and buying large tracts of uncleared land. The families have grown until they now number several hundred.

HAD A HARD RAIN

------------

An old saying that it never rains on Collett-McKay picnic day did not hold good this year, for that section had a "soaker." This is the second time in 46 years that rain has spoiled that picnic.

THE forty-sixth annual reunion of the Collett-McKay families will be held in the usual place next Saturday. This was the first of the family reunions in this county, it has always been held in the same grove, always on the second Saturday in August, has met every year since 1866 and never has rain prevented it.
