Nute Middleton and family spent Sabbath at McKay Station.
Mrs. Frank Oglesbee has been enjoying a visit from her sister who resides at Midland City.
The Oglesbee picnic will be held in William Oglesbee's grove next Saturday, the third Saturday of the month.
The Haines family reunion, held last week at the Artesian well, was a pleasant event, something over 200 being present.
The McKay-Collett picnic was largely attended, and every one spoke in praise of the good time and bountiful dinner.
A cipher is a small affair but it magnifies the words meeting ten times its correct size. Our item
should have read 4000.
Mrs. French and daughter of Troy, and Carlton Marshall of same place, are spending a week with Mrs. French's neice, Mrs. James Huffman.
At the quarterly conference held at New Burlington last Friday, Z. D. Haines was elected steward and Orval Peterson was elected trustee, both of Lumberton Church.

Frank Jenkins has returned to his work.
The new Friends church is ready for the plastering. Chris Gretzinger has the contract and is at work.
James Hawkins is able to ride out, and feels that after eight weeks of confinement to the house that it is good to get around again.
General meeting of Friends at Cæsarcreek Saturday and Sunday was largely attended, and some very able ministers were present.
By reason of the Collett-McKay picnic occuring on last Saturday quarterly meeting at the M. E.
church was held Friday and Sunday.
Rev. Gilbert Tarvis, formerly pastor here of the M. E. Church but now at Lewisburg, Preble county, was here in attendance at the Collett-McKay picnic and to visit among his old friends.
The concert to be given at the M. E. church here by the choir of the First M. E. Church of Xenia next Saturday evening, Aug. 17, will be a rich treat to the music loring people of our town and neighborhood. It will consist of choruses, quartets, duets, etc. Also coronet and clarinet duets. The piano for the occasion will be furnished by J. Fred Smith, Xenia, Ohio,
Mrs. Philip Trout received a telegram, Saturday morning, from Colorado Springs, Colo., bring the sad,
though not unexpected, information that her sister was dead. The body was brought to Lynchburg for burial and reached there Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Trout and family went to her mother's, near Lynchburg,
Saturday evening. The funeral was held from her mother's on Tuesday

 OAKLAND.
Wilbur H. Williams went to Cincinnati last Thursday, accompanied by Mrs. Williams and Dr. Greene, of Wilmington, to have an operation performed upon one of his legs, and is at this writing in the hospital doing as well as could be expected.
Edward Hackney has a troublesome carbuncle on the back of his neck.
A number from here attended the Collett-McKay picnic held Saturday.
Several of our young people went to Ft. Ancient on Thursday picnicking.
Arthur Huffman and George Wallace made a business trip to Morrow last Wednesday.
James Taylor is visiting relatives in Dayton.

THE family of Madison Betts have returned to their home, from Cincinnati, for the remainder of the summer.

ABOUT five hundred tickets were sold by the two roads at this station, last Thursday, for the excursions to Cincinnati.
WILMINGTON Lodge, F. & A. M., was inspected by S. E. Evans, of Circleville, the officer for this district, last Wednesday evening.
