Upper Ridge Meeting

This cemetery which is located on Apple Pie Ridge Road (Route 739) three miles north-west of Winchester in Frederick County, Va. contains some graves of Robert Mackay Sr.'s, Isaac Steer's and Hattill Varman's descendants. It is under care of the Hopewell Centre Monthly Meeting. Originally it was the adjoining burying ground for the Upper Ridge Preparatory Meeting until that meeting was laid down and the meetinghouse sold. The original meetinghouse is now a private residence.

Listed below are some of the people buried here. Information comes from a pamphlet printed for Centre Monthly Meeting.

Julia Brown
Husband, children, dears, friends
And relations, as you pass by
Remember as you are now, so once
was I. As I am now, so you will be.

Mary Brown
Our Mother is gone and we're left
The loss of her to mourn
But may we hope to meet with her
With Christ before God's Throne

Farewell, my husband dear farewell.
Adieu, farewell to thee--
And you my dear children all,
Farewell, Farewell to you.
