IMPORTANT DATES IN THE LIFE OF THE NINEVEH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH


1867 - Organized at White Post, Clarke County, Virginia 

1882 - Organized at Nineveh  -  18 members from the Front Royal Presbyterian Church
                                13 members from the White Post Presbyterian Church 
       (The 18 members were "all of those living north of the Shenandoah River." In
       1882 there were no bridges at Riverton.) 

1887 - The small group of 10 Christians who had established this church 20 years be-
       fore at White Post now holding services in the Zion (Old School) Baptist Church
       at Nineveh with 50 communicants and three elders.

1892 - July 1, two acres adjoining and to the east of the Quaker graveyard bought from
       Magnus Leach.

1893 - September 6, Presbytery met at Nineveh in the new and beautiful church erected
       during the summer at a cost of some $1800.00.  It is proper to state that we
       were enabled to build this church mainly thru the liberality and kindness of our
       esteemed and much cherished deceased Christian friend, Miss Virginia Burns.

1909 - Mrs. John B. Earle was requested to take charge of the organ and music.

1913 - August 29, lightning struck the church, burned completely, nothing saved.  The
       use of Zion Baptist Church is offered, without charge.

1914 - Mrs. J. B. Earle and Mrs. I. G. Bierer appointed to buy an organ.

1915 - New pews ordered - Memorial windows installed.

1916 - March 12, meeting of Session in new Church; thought best not to have dedication
       before May.
       July 11, Dedication - large attendance - generous contributions to the building
       fund - picnic dinner on the grounds.
       August, Evangelistic services held at Milldale, with 25 new members coming
       into the Nineveh church.

1918 - Church organized at Milldale, where a mission Sunday School had been held
       almost from the beginning of the White Post Church.  The Presbyterians used
       the White Post Methodist church and the two congregations had a Union Sunday
       School there also.

       There have been 20 pastors, 14 elders and 28 deacons.
