Isaac S. Hough Jr. was first buried in Jefferson, MD. His remains were removed from Jefferson, MD and re-interred in the Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA., with his wife Amanda Hirshberger Hough and daughter Clarice Hough.

The following is from his military records:

He enlisted and was mustered into the Independent Loudoun Virginia Rangers (USA) on March 5, 1864, at Point of Rocks, Md. for 3 years. On July 7, 1864, he suffered a gunshot wound in the right arm while engaged in reconnaissance near Frederick, Md., the day before the Battle of Monocacy. He was mustered out of service on May 31, 1865.

After the war, he lived for a period of time in Winona, Iowa, but he died in Waterford, Va.
