From Hopewell Friends History, p. 268 we find a transcribed copy of their marriage certificate: ![]() An article in an old newspaper tells of his selling of 213 acres of land northwest of Winchester is in my possession dated 13 5mo 1801. This is probably referring to the selling of "Long Green", the ancestral home. According to Hopewell Friends History & Hinshaw's Quaker records Phebe along with her mother and sister Mary were "recieved on a certificate from Fairfax MM dated 27 4mo 1776" into Hopewell MM on 6 5mo 1776. Also, from Hinshaw's records & Hopewell Friends History, Isaac & Phebe & daughter Mary were "recieved on a certificate from" Crooked Run MM dated 4 1mo 1783 into Hopewell on 3 2mo 1783, and Isaac & Phebe & chn. Joseph, Ann, Jonah, Lydia, William, Rachel, & Phebe were "granted a certificate to" Fairfax MM on 3 5mo 1802 from Hopewell MM. Isaac & Phebe were listed as elders of Hopewell MM. Phebe was listed as a clerk for the Women's Mtg. of Hopewell MM. Isaac was listed as an Overseer for Hopewell MM within the period 1759-1851. He was also listed as a Committee Member for Hopewell MM within the period 1791-1811. All chn. of above were born in Frederick Co. VA except Rachel and Phebe, they were born in Loudoun Co. VA. According to Hinshaw's Quaker records Fairfax Meeting "secured the rights" of Elizabeth's chn. by her 1st husband. No issue.
