Lydia, married: 24 4mo 1822; Centre Meeting, Frederick Co. VA; Charles Lytle (or Litler), born: 16 2mo 1796; Alexandria, VA; died: 16 or 23 2mo 1839; Washington, DC; Son of John and Hannah Lytle;

From Hopewell Friends History, p. 356 we find a transcribed copy of their marriage certificate:

Lydia's will was executed by Aaron H. Griffith.

According to Hinshaw's Quaker records Charles was "recieved on a certificate from" Baltimore MM for western district dated 7 12mo 1821 into Hopewell MM on 7 3mo 1822. He, Lydia and chn. William & Isaac P. were "granted a certificate to" Alexandria MM on 5 10mo 1826 from Hopewell MM. Lydia and chn. Nathan & Sidney were "recieved on a certificate from" Alexandria MM dated 18 6mo 1840 into Hopewell MM on 8 10mo 1840. Lydia was "granted a certificate to" Fairfax MM on 4 5mo 1871 from Hopewell MM.

  • Nathan Parkins, born: 14 11mo 1827; Frederick Co. VA; died: 18 6mo 1873; New Orleans, LA; Did not marry.
  • John Henry Eaton, born: 12 11mo 1829; Frederick Co. VA; died: 9 8mo 1853; New Orleans, LA; Did not marry.
  • Sidney P. (S.), born: 19 11mo 1832; Washington, DC; died: Waterford, Loudoun Co. VA; Single in 1890. P.O.c1890, Fort Defiance, Va. Unknown if he ever married. According to Hinshaw's Quaker records Sidney was listed among those who were "recieved by request" or "recieved on certificate" after the 1828 split between Hicksite & Orthodox Friends into Hopewell MM. It doesn't say which meeting recieved him. Also, he was "granted a certificate to" Northern District MM in Philadelphia where he was living at that time on 4 7mo 1850 from Hopewell MM. He was later "recieved on a certificate from" Northern District into Hopewell MM on 2 3mo 1854. He was later disowned for non-attendance and habitual use of intoxicating drinks on 3 2mo 1875 by Hopewell MM.
