Rual Anderson states in his book that "Walter Scrivener's grandfather was Vincent Storm Scrivener, who was Sheriff of Frederick County and was well known because he was a giant of a man." Rual states that his father "pulled a gun on him one time and spent the night in jail for it. He was trying to keep the sheriff from arresting someone."
