VA; Abigail Edgerton, born: 5 11mo 1742; Sadsbury Twp., Chester Co. PA; died: 8 8mo 1810; Hopewell MM, Frederick Co. VA; James & Abigail moved to Loudoun Co. Va. ca. 1762, thence to Frederick Co. Va. in 1766, and thence to Belmont Co. Ohio in 1812. According to Hopewell Friends History & Hinshaw's Quaker records James & Abigail & chn. Hannah, Grace, & Rachel, also Isaac Nevitt, (under their care) were "recieved on a certificate from" Fairfax MM into Hopewell MM on 3 8mo 1767. Also, from Hinshaw's records James was released as overseer & Richard Ridgeway, Jr. "co" in his place on 5 4mo 1779 and also, a few steers were "granted certificates to" Short Creek MM on 14 5mo 1812 from Hopewell MM. I haven't been able to place them yet but I believe they could be of this branch. They are James, James (son of James), Joseph (son of James), Mary, Phebe, & Ruth. James was listes as an Elder of Hopewell MM. Abigail was listed as either an Elder or Minister for Hopewell MM. James also served as a clerk at Hopewell MM. He was listed as an Overseer for Hopewell MM and an unknown Mtg. within the period 1759-1851. He was listed as a Committee Member for Hopewell MM within the period 1759-1776. He was also listed as a Special Committee Member for Hopewell MM within the period 1791-1811 to look after the "Education and Care of Our Youth". He was appointed on 12 7mo 1801. Also, to unite with overseers in a visit to such as are neglected in attendance to meetings, appointed 2 7mo 1803. James and Abigail had a numerous family: Issue: Steer
