[Home] [Partial Genealogy Records]Richard Haines Sr. RecordRichard Haines Sr., born: around 1640; "Aynhoe of Ye Hill", Northamptonshire, England; died: 1682; during his crossing to New Jersey; Richard, married: Margaret (unknown), These are the webmaster's ancestors. Richard died during his crossing to New Jersey. His wife Margaret and their children Richard, William, Thomas & Mary sailed from the Downs, England in the ship "Amity" on 23rd of April 1682. Their last son, Joseph was born aboard the ship "Amity". The birth dates for the rest of their children can be found on the L.D.S/I.G.I for Northampton, England and L.D.S. #994096 "Birth, Death, & Marriages 1572-1709 for Aynho, Northampton, England." Dee Ann writes: The book by George Haines, Ancestry of the Haines. Sharp- Collins, Wills, Gardiner, Prickitt, Eves, Evans, Moore, Troth. Borton and Engles Families, can be purchased through Higginson Books, 14 GH Derby Square, Salem, MA 01970. This book was written in 1902, and has little information about the various Haines families who left New Jersey for other parts of the United States. Many of the individuals listed in his book lack birth dates and places, and one can assume only that they were born in New Jersey. It would appear that the dates before 1752 are listed under Julian calendar (old style) and were not converted to our modern day Gregorian calendar (new style). It has been my experience that much work has been done on the various Quaker families of the United States. The reader should consult the Latter Day Saints/I.G.I, for the Haines family name, for it can be found most likely all over the United States. Information about this family can be found in the William Wade Hinshaw volumes and the works of William Nelson. I used the Hopewell Friends History, to gather information about the family in Virginia. Elizabeth Antrim's grandmother was Esther Haines, and she was the granddaughter of the emigrate couple, Richard & Mary (Carlile) Haines Jr. Consequently in the beginning I was interested in gathering information only about the first four generations of the Haines family. However, since this family married into my McKay family of Virginia, I became interested in trying to place all the Haines families of Virginia back to the emigrate Richard & Margaret Haines Sr. of England and New Jersey. These notes do contain some information about the various branches of the family who left Virginia for Ohio. This text has 1408 known descendants of Richard & Margaret Haines. Sr. Issue: Haines
