William Garwood evidently became a member of the Society of Friends sometime between 1660 and 1672. He was listed as being a mariner. William, wife Jane, and his two sons, John and Thomas made plans to go to America. It is said that he died shortly after his arrival in America, others that he died either before he embarked or during the voyage. In any case on 1st month 1687 an inventory of his personal estate was made in Burlington, N.J. His widow Jane Garwood died prior to 6th month 1689. A copy of the marriage ledger of Holbrook Parish, Suffolk, England will follow the listing of his children.
