Margaret Hancock's ancestry has four lines of descent from the Emperor Charlemagne. The reader should refer to the three volume work by Aileen Lewers Langston & J. I have listed below her senior male line first, followed by her other three lines. My mother, Patsy Dee (Hopgood) Shipp, also is a descendant of Charlemagne; therefore a very distant cousin to her husband and my father, Ralph Earl Shipp. A chart is enclosed to show their closest common ancestor--Robert "The Devil", Duke of Normandy. My parents are also both descendants of Alfred "The Great" of England, a chart is enclosed. My husband, Irvin Paul Buck Jr, through his Savage family of Northampton Co. Va, also is a descendants of the Plantagenet Kings; therefore also a descendants of the Emperor Charlemagne. Our closest common ancestor was Elizabeth FitzAlan who died 8 Jul 1425, my husband and I are 19th cousins, twice removed. It is said that there are about a hundred thousand descendants of Edward III, King of England. According to Arthur Adams, "Doubtless thousands, even millions, of people are descended from the great Emperor, though we should not be misled by computations in geometrical progression to the belief that everybody on the earth must be."
