Martha Burr Hollingsworth, 88, of Jamestown, died on Thursday (Sept. 16, 2010) at the Liberty Nursing Center, Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Hollingsworth, who died in 1997. They were married June 25, 1942.
Mrs. Hollingworth was born April 2, 1922, in Greene County, daughter of the late Dwight and Edith McColaugh Burr. She was a homemaker. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Bowersville Church of Christ. She also was a member and historian of the Port William Senior Citizens and a member of the Jamestown Area Historical Society and the Clinton County Historical Society. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940. Her love and knowledge of family and community history is appreciated by many.
She is survived by two children, Joseph (Kathy) Hollingsworth and Jane Ellen Hollingsworth, both of Jamestown; two grandsons, Ethan and Patrick Hollingsworth, both of Jamestown; and a sister, Iola Creamer of Jamestown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Ann; a brother, Forest Burr; a sister-in-law, Thelma Burr; a sister, Letha Baker; and two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Baker and James Creamer.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday at LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville. Pallbearers were Ethan and Patrick Hollingsworth, Ken Struewing, Jeff Rothwell, Jimmy Cameron and Charles Stethen. Arrangements were under the direction of LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, Sabina.
