Helen Louise Stewart, 87, of Winchester, VA, died Sunday, February 28, 2010.
She was born April 27, 1922 in Winchester, the daughter of the late Grover H. and Nina Thwaite Schlack. She married Harry C. Stewart, Jr. on November 10, 1946 in Winchester. She was a homemaker, an avid bridge player, a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, and loved to cook and dance. Mrs. Stewart was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Winchester. During WWII she worked at the port of embarkation in New Port News, VA. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club group Ki-wives.
Along with her husband, Harry, she is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca S. Morrison and her husband, Alan and Patricia S. Boyd and her husband, Robert all of Winchester; six grandchildren, Melinda Morrison Krochune, Amy L. Morrison, Mary Ann Morrison Kohne, R. Clinton Boyd, Virginia L. Boyd and Stewart M. Boyd; one great granddaughter, Eloise Grace Krochune and two sisters, Charlotte Schneider and Mary Lou Koontz both of Williamsport, MD.
Her great grandson, Charles J. "Charlie" Kohne preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 5 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Richard W. Reifsnyder officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hebron.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Jones Funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Clint Boyd, Stewart Boyd, Justin Grabell, and Matt Kohne.
