Michael McKay
I've been informed that Robert Corbell McKay passed away on 6 December 2003.

I have not found an actual obituary as of yet but do know these details from George C. Seward who sent me some information which I'll use to create a makeshift obituary:

Robert Corbell McKay

Robert Corbell McKay died on 6 December 2003 at his home in Everett, WA and was buried with military honours in the Tacoma National Cemetery, in Tacoma, Washington.

His extensive service in World War II as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Pacific and his prior duty attempting to rescue the Normandy from the fire which consumed her in the Hudson River had severely affected his health. He was on the new aircraft carrier, USS Wasp, in the Pacific when she was sunk by a Japanese submarine. Rescued after hours in the water, he was on the destroyer, USS Laffey, when she was sunk near Guadalcanal.

Robert was born on 24 June 1918, the son of Carroll Francis McKay & Grace Portlock Eley. He married Elizabeth Berry and along with his wife is survived by four children: Roberta E. Beyl, John E. McKay, William C. McKay & Nancylee C. Moon; nine grandchildren: Lisa A. Beyl, Martin P. Beyl, Mhari R. McKay, Shane E. McKay, Jason C. McKay, Jennifer A. McKay, Thomas W. McKay, Dustin R. Moon & Garrett C. Moon.
