Although she was not a member of the family she did attend our Va. reunions on a regular basis when she could. She was a good friend to some our attending cousins so I thought I'd post her obituary here for those of you who wish to see it and possibly leave comments.
Virginia K. Fox, 95, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Fox was born on February 11, 1908 in Kimball, Page County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Henry and Martha Frances Shenk Kibler. She was a 1925 graduate of Luray High School, Luray, Virginia. Mrs. Fox attended Luray Commercial College from 1925 until 1926. In the summer of 1926, she attended State Teachers College in Harrisonburg, Virginia followed by a teaching career in 1926 until 1927. In February of 1927, she was appointed to the Page County School Board, where she served as secretary to the Superintendent of Page County Schools until June of 1931. In June of 1931, she married Ezra Allen Fox, and went to Washington D.C. to live.
She was a dual member of Braddock Street United Methodist in Winchester and the Palisades Community Church in Wasington, D.C. where she previously resided for 64 years. Mrs. Fox was a life member of Naomi Chapter #3 OES District of Columbia. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. After moving to Winchester in 1985, she continued to volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Godfrey Miller Fellowship Center with activities. In 1994, she was honored by the Winchester Exchange Club as Senior Citizen of the Year.
She served as a volunteer with the Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary, being honored with a 1000 hour pin.
Surviving is a daughter in law, Helen N. Fox of Winchester, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Kristi Joanne Fox Dodds of Seattle, Washington, and Kevin Wayne Fox of Winchester. Her husband, Ezra Allen Fox, preceded her in death on September 16, 1994. Her son, Allen Wayne Fox, preceded her in death on August 13, 1994 and she is also preceded in death by a half brother, Harry R. Kibler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jay Kelchner and Reverend Dr. Alan R. Felumlee officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery, Luray, Virginia.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m.
