I never actually had the opportunity to know Clint Boze. His wife, Nannie (McKay) Boze died in 1974 when I was very young and I have some photos of her and also of Clint thanks to Cousins Perry & Aurelia (McKay) Mowbray.

This comes from the Charlottesville Daily Progress:

Albert Clinton Boze

A. Clinton Boze, 86, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday Oct. 8, 2002, at The Colonnades.

Born Jan. 28, 1916, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late Samuel Thomas Boze and Ruth Crowe Boze.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie McKay Boze.

He leaves as survivors, a daughter, Susan McKay Boze of Denver and a son, Samuel Clinton Boze of Toano.

He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1938. He served in World War II for five years. He spent most of this time in the South Pacific where he rose from First Lt. to Captain.

He retired from the United States Post Office and the Newcomb Hall Post Office at the University of Virginia. He enjoyed teaching for one year in Moneta, having taught the sciences and sports.

Mr. Boze was very civic-minded, having served in many clubs in Charlottesville. He was on the original board for planning the Student-Aid Foundation for the University of Virginia and was also on the board for planning the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport. He was a past, Exalted Ruler for the Elk's Club. His many interests include the Monticello Bird Club, Ivy Creek Foundation, Charlottesville Senior Center, Fly Fishing, Square Dancing with the Virginia Reelers, and a strong interest in yesteryear's jazz music played by the Big Bands. He enjoyed all UVa sports, and attended the football and basketball games for decades until the last few years.

He attended the First Baptist Church until very recently. He was a member of the University Baptist Church for a number of years. His daughter and son, along with Mary Lou Byers, would like to thank the First Baptist Church staff and members for their visits and prayers. They would also like to thank the staff at The Colonnades for their good care of him. They certainly thank the Hospice of the Piedmont for their wonderful concern.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. today at Teague Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Teague Chapel with Dr. Joel P. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
