Hey Dee / Michael,
On family tree, I have a match with Name: Donald Sholes Thompson (Michael - you should connect to him also). His most distant ancestor is Alexander Thompson b. 1761 and d. 1827. Marker Location: Perthshire, Scotland, UK. I did a search on-line and found in a History of Newbury Vermont, information on a Alexander Thompson, b. 1761 and d. 1827. Location: Perth, Scotland. Seems to line up. May be someone similar or not even the person Donald Thompson is referencing.

Michael - have you had any contact with Donald Thompson? I was planning to email him. Just curious.

Only due to the work of Mary Meritt who took the time to get her two Mckay cousin: Kenneth McKay and Jerry Rhett Mckay to filed with Family Tree their DNA sample(Y, mtDNA & Family Finder) and she send me their kit numbers with pass words, I can work this problem.
Since, the Y marker listing of kits does give their kit numbers but on the public listing of Y markers these kits numbers are not listed. So I can't tell on the general listing who is this "Donald Sholes Thompson" (25 markers). He and Kenneth McKay shows "2" distance match with each other. On his Family Tree Finder this man is too distant to show DNA match on this portion of his DNA matches.
Which means yes--in the distant past Donald Sholes THOMPSON shared a distant male ancestor of with Kenneth McKay. Could be so distant "we" will never find paper documentation.
If you have not done the Family Finder portion of DNA test, you should to see if you are showing matches with people who hail from Scotland.

You should show matches with Kenneth McKay and other descends male and female from Moses Mackay Sr' line. I am not showing these matches with my distant Mackay cousin through Robert Sr. youngest son Moses Sr.

Shaun,
Thank you for your posting. My line from Robert is through Moses and his son Moses who also came to Missouri as did Jeremiah.
Just so my tree is correct: Your line is Moses-Jeremiah-Jeremiah-Jeremiah-Thomas-Glenn??? was his name actually Benjamin Glenn McKay (1903-1988)?
Thanks, Russ Norris

Just to correct myself. "as Jeremiah did" come to Missouri. It was actually Moses's grandson Jeremiah who came to Missouri. He settled in the Marion County, Missouri area around Palmyra, Missouri and was married to Nancy Ann Dickerson.
My line was from Moses's son Moses who settled in Clay County, Missouri at Missouri City, Missouri.
That's what I get for not doing a "Preview"

Yes. Most people only own / knew him as Glenn or B. Glenn

Hey Dee Ann - if you are not showing matches to Moses MacKay, what does that mean (if anything)? I match up with Michael McKay and Gerald Mckay. So, should also be my cousin (distant cousin).

The Y marker test is where you are matching Gerald and Michael McKay right ? Not with Family Finder (autosomal) right? We can match with MtDNA back 10,000 years, but not with Family Finder.
You do you match with your Family Finder ?
We have to use all three and apply the results with to our paper documentation.
