Just received the result for my DNA sample from 23 & Me. I have not really figured out all the "in & out" of the site. If it has the all important "Chromosome Browser" I have not found it. This makes Family Tree DNA the best site for DNA comparing.

It has confirmed my 1 % African. All the rest of the racial break downs the same.

I have just placed my four generation chart on their site which I plan that will be it. There appears to be samples of DNA for people who descend from Thomas Buck McKay and Anne E. Lehew. None for my Sowers couple.

My first cousin Kelsey Rada sample is present. My mother's side of my chart as far as DNA is really done. I am still looking for Y marker of male line of my E.H. Derryberry. That would be a great find.

Henry MORRIS the emigrate his son Wm. has a link with Rainey Family of Prince George Co. VA. I believe this same family removed also to Orange Co. NC. I have two links with a Rainey Family with my King and Bolen Families of Carroll Co. TN, said Rainey did live in Orange Co. NC. Both go back to Young Rainey of Orange Co. NC who died Carroll Co. TN.

I have Family Finder DNA links with researchers who have their lines of Rainey in both location, but I have not found our link. Frances who married Henry Morris Jr. I am still searching for her maiden name.

All the Orange Co. NC land deeds are on line, just a matter of finding the time.

23 & Me has linked your samples to tree pedigree service "My Heritage" and they charge from $6.88 to $14.65 per month to send your messages to other researchers and to see and read various documents and to link them to your tree. Just because a researcher has a tree with them does NOT mean they have also send in their DNA sample. It took me half a day to figure out this fact, which I think is misleading on their part.

Another draw back to this Pedigree Tree Service if you agree your grandfather is indeed the same found on another tree, they want to put all the later generations on to your tree. If you disagree with later ancestors, your tree will contain information you do not agree. The L.D.S. Family Search Tree does the same thing, people just copying others trees.

I hope I will in the future find new cousins on this site, but at the moment I would not say to send your DNA sample with this company.

Family Tree DNA is the far superior DNA company. They make no attempt to link your DNA sample with researchers trees. You have to figure out where two researchers share common ancestry.
