"Have you ever been able to confirm the death of Cornelius Melton...when he died,WHY, where he is buried"

Well he is on the 1850 Lexington, Henderson Co. TN with his family, then listed 1860 census just his wife and his children. I believe most people would gather from that he died after 1850 census and before 1860. WHY he died-- his heart stopped beating.

The court house of Henderson Co. TN buried down two or three times. If there was a county death registry it is no longer available. Their early marriage bonds are not available. I believe Ancestry has TN Death Records on line but they start 1920's too late to shed light on your questions.

L.D.S. library has the works of Jonathan K.T. Smith, his works do have some information about our Morris and Melton. In the past I paid for all these films and pulled information contained in them. I could have missed some-- you can order the same film. I have no idea if they are now on line.

There are cemeteries of Henderson Co. TN on line. This does not mean that ALL the grave markers have been put on line. Seriously doubt I will never visit this part of TN, a close look at each cemetery should be done to see if there are broken stones or weathered one. Or simply missed !

"What cemetery Elizabeth Brown Morris was buried." I have not found on line that information "spoon fed" to me. There are two different Morris Cemeteries she could be buried and her stone has not been recorded on line or others have seen it and not mentioned it to the public on paper. Her son Henry Morris with wife and family members that cemetery on line and pictures of his grave marker. Her nephew B.F. Morris has another Morris Cemetery that one is on line.

Those are two possible location for the grave of Elizabeth (Brown) Morris. Another Lexington Cemetery of Henderson Co. TN started 1820's stone not available the oldest year readable 1837. Her death in 1872 could have had a stone placed on her grave and no one has placed the picture on line.

Another cemetery some of my oldest exchanges of information with other Melton researchers called it Elkins or Poor House Cemetery. My ancestress Nancy (Fortune) Melton died 21 Mar 1872 buried in that location. But I believe it was "moved". It might now be called County Farm Cemetery. Some of those grave markers on line and her name included with this cemetery.

Cornelius and Frances L. (Morris) Melton address on US census was Lexington, I think a good guess buried in the largest cemetery in the area Lexington Cemetery. IF Elizabeth (Brown) Morris was buried in her son's Henry Morris cemetery that would be a good guess as well.

Years ago I ordered and viewed every film &fiche L.D.S. offered for Henderson Co. TN. The branches of the family who removed to TX or elsewhere are on their own.

With the new format of Ancestry Tree, that change has cause me to spend a lot of time reading over each of my family groups. On the up side their new "Time Line" gives me a place to post new information I am pulling from film and that information is not on line and new original records they have on line all applied to each person on my tree.
