I have found her family group and the Rhodes connection. I have to find more proof but if you're interested I can let you know what I've found so far.

that what I am trying to figure out I have mtDNA match with her descend. I have a listing of others I am trying to tie into the earlier female ancestors of our Elizabeth Fox. I have jumped ahead of the others has far as oldest generation.

I have ordered Quaker Irish Church Records in the hope I will find the marriage record of Elizabeth Fox with Wm.Cook. I know marriage and birth records are present for Hollingsworth family.

A researcher who's oldest known female ancestor named as Nancy Hundley share the same numbers as I do. Her line still in US. This is what we call a DNA MATCH.

I just received another mtDNA with Alice Black Crawford, now there are three kits who claim as their oldest known ancestress as Elizabeth Abber born 1740 Ireland or England died in New Brunswick, Canada. Wife of Wm.Black. Ancestry Tree does not give her mother's name. The other two: David T. Nicolson and Jane Evans. It would appear I have fair number of distant cousins living in Canada.

Mitochondrial DNA test is the female test like males can take Y marker test. A male researcher can submit his DNA test he can supply his DNA footprint for his oldest known male ancestor (called Y marker study like we have for Robert Mackay Sr.) and his main female line running across the top of any pedigree chart.

My DNA test which is open to all descends of Elizabeth Brown points to her oldest female ancestor living in Ireland. These are four kits pointing to Ireland as oldest known birth place of their most female ancestor. My kit has the female ancestor Elizabeth Fox born 1647 in Ireland. So they have to work their female line back to 1647. We can hope we might find our common female ancestress.

King Richard III remains were verified by mtDNA testing !!

Elizabeth Brown oldest known ancestress Elizabeth Fox born 1647 Ireland died 1734 PA. All my matches on my site share a common ancestor back in time. All of them need to go back to her birth year 1647.

Hope to push back at least to Elizabeth's mother.

I really do not like talking down to people--REALLY !! To me DNA terms are obvious. I am now teaching L.D.S. members how to use this DNA tool to support fill in their 4th Generation Chart. As their church requires. We have others in our program who are non-members.

DNA--Scientific Original Record--which we are born with use it !!

Check out DNA web sites on line like found through Wikipedia.

Picture your 4th Generation Pedigree Chart--Y marker will give you top line of your chart, your mtDNA marker bottom line of your chart. Autosomal Test will give you the ethnicity make up of all your other blood lines. Your 4 generation chart should be covered by all the census records starting with 1850 census down to 1940, so you have the names of head of household and his wife and children. You can build upon that with marriage, birth, death records etc....and now DNA.

TERMS:

1. Y-marker test is taken by males which will yield your basic racial group for that one line, cost varies with the number of markers you test. Cheapest 12 marker about $58. Some surnames or families (like our McKay) offer free members to their members.

Hapologroup: A=Africa, B=Africa, C=Asian, D=Asian, E-Africa, F=Africa, G=Middle East, H=India, I=Scandinavia, J=Near East, K=US Indians, L=India, M=Asia, N=Eastern European, 0=East Asia, P=American Indian, Q=American Indian, R=European

This is called your Y marker, if a study is being conducted by a group of men who claim descend from a common male ancestor on paper say their 4th or 5th grandfather and their Y marker match, then you have established the Y markers for that particular male ancestor. After those numbers have been established all future men who claim the same ancestor who send in their DNA kits MUST match the established numbering pattern. So we say "There is a Y marker Study" done for this male ancestor.

Having an established set of numbers linked to particular family/surname then be used by researchers when combing through paper documents to count in or out other men living in a particular geographic location as being part of their group or not.

2. Mitochondrial DNA mtDNA--taken by males and females will give you the Haplogroup and numbers of you oldest female ancestor. This is the blood line on your basic 4th Generation Pedigree Chart running along the bottom line. Starting cost $199.

Hapologroups: West Eurasian--H, T, U, V, X, K, N, I, J.
Sub-African--L, L1, L2, L3
East Asia--A,B,C,D, E, F, G
Native American--A,B,C,D, X

It will take the researcher longer to find the common female ancestor because the surname changes from generation to generation. But having your ancestress numbers can give you direction and focus where to look.

3. Autosomal (Family Finder)--22 Chromosomes--Ancestry breaks down for you relations: 1st cousin, 2nd cousin, 3th cousin, 4th cousin and Distant. Family Tree DNA: mother, father, child, uncle, aunt, 1st cousin, 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin, 4th cousin and distant. Both cost $99.

Ethnicity Estimate given "Pie Chart" break down world into: Africa, America, Asia, Europe, European Jewish, Finland/Northwest Russia, Pacific Islander and West Asia.

Family Tree DNA has Chromosome Browser will show the researcher by Chromosome how much shared DNA you have with the other kits. The closer you are related to the other person (male or female) the amount will be greater and should show more than one hit on your various chromosomes. You can see if you are a double distant cousin. Ancestry does not have this important tool.

Family Tree DNA does not have membership fees to pay. You pay only once. To use your sample on Ancestry must keep your yearly membership. Having your sample in more than one "Gene Pool" can be useful.
