L.D.S. library systems has wills of Orange Co. NC on line with other documents for the county. I do not think State of VA lets them put the same kind of documents on line.

I have ordered Brunswick Co. VA through them on film should know more end of next month.
Dee Ann, did you ever here any
thing from Reed's family?

I send a e-mail to his son's business office. To be honest, how with the answer from VERY WELCOMED Hollingsworth researcher, it is up to me to find the paper documentation to place Isaac Hollingsworth in our tree. When this is done I will be 90% certain "we" have the Y marker for our emigrate Henry Morris. I have no plans to do research in England.

I have been delivered all the film for Brunswick Co. VA, hope to see original will of Henry Morris. Just a matter of find the time to read all the film. Will also be looking for the names of Henry's slaves to see if I can find the same among Morris slave of Orange Co. NC. Hope to find out more about maiden names of Henry Sr. and perhaps Henry Jr.

Did you never do your Family Finder DNA test ? Another branch of the TN Morris (linked to me) would confirm our line.

My film for Amelia Co. VA has also arrived (I have it on long loan) might find more about our Brown of Orange Co. NC.

I did notice ancestry.com now has the will of Hnery Morris on their website.
Would we get better info if I asked a Mississippi make cousin to take a dna test?

Which section on Ancestry did you find the posting of Henry Morris' will?

Well yes if you have a male Morris descend of Isaac Morris that would confirm Reed Morris' line. And his Family Finder test should match with mine.

I will try to get in touch with my cousins and ask about taking a dna test.

Will check Ancestry entry of wills of Brunswick later today to see if I can get the whole will book on line. I will not have to extend by film at the L.D.S. library.

As far as getting your "cousin" to do the Y marker test, that would benefit you the most, more than I. I do not know your situation--if you are certain your line of descend on paper is from the couple Isaac Morris and Elizabeth Brown?. I have a good working listing of their children on paper--now I am seeking out DNA samples to confirm the family unit. This is what I am doing for all my family groups starting with me and working my way back in time.

If Elizabeth Brown is found in your direct line of descend, then I have supplied you "free" her DNA foot print. When I find her mother's maiden name my mtDNA will be able to confirm her female ancestor back to the emigrate. I think I have her looking for more matches.

My Family Finder Kit matching two other kits from two other children of Henry Morris Sr. brings back our Orange Co. NC Morris to the Morris emigrate--FOR ME. You would need to do the same test to confirm FOR YOU your line. Over the years I will be looking for more DNA kits which will confirm the various family groups "on paper" starting with Isaac Morris and Elizabeth Brown and working the way back in time.

You cousin's Y marker test would have to match Reed Morris to be a true male descend of Henry Morris who died in Brunswick Co. VA, then your male line back to Henry would be confirmed by DNA. You doing your Family Finder test matching his would confirm you are a descend of said Henry Morris Sr.

I have not found the time to look over my old notes about various Morris Families of Henderson Co. TN and Carroll Co. TN. Now that I have the Y marker and the emigrate of our group of Morris I can separate out the others Morris Families as not been our group.

People call themselves "cousins" when they really are not.

The Brunswick Co. VA Wills which Ancestry has on line missing 30 years of wills. The film I ordered through L.D.S. has the missing wills. Will Book 1 is more or less pieces of wills !!! But I will go through them in any case.

I am finding a lot of new material on our Morris Family and I am posting land deeds and wills entries on my Ancestry Tree. Ancestry changed their format ("bless them") I still have not fixed all the misleading material on my various family groups. But after I get the hang of their system I can post by year interesting items for persons in my tree.

I am finding there were other Morris Families living in Prince George Co. VA and Brunswick Co. VA. I am focus very keenly only on our small group of Morris.

And I am also finding new material for my Hicks and Seawell. It would appear I have another Rives Family (Group 8) I already have Reeves in Granville Co. NC (Group 3 and George 6). Researchers on line and Ancestry have mixed together these families as one.

I think I asked you this before so please bear with me........I am (finally) going to order my dna test, from which site/company and which test would you recommend? If my husband decides to take a dna test for his family line would you recommend the same test? Thanks

They can sell you Y markers and mtDNA test. Ancestry so longer sell them just Family Finder.

It was at one time Ancestry would transfer Family Tree Finder into their system. Their purpose to build up their gene pool. But you would have to have an account with Ancestry. If true you could have your sample in both gene pools

My sample is in both.

Because my Morris connection is through my father, will the mtDNA test help to trace the Morris family? Will the familyfinder test find matches to all of my surnames? thanks for your help
