Dee Ann, I don't know if you have seen this info but I thought I would mention it to you. There is a website
www.myancestrallegacy.com/candall/pafn13.htm
which is titled "Ancestors of Myron Michael Crandall - notes". If you read the info on 325. Michael Cadet Young there are several mentions
of Henry Morris and Drury Stith. If you have not seen this, it may provide you will some leads to follow up.
thanks for all the help you have given me, cathey

I have ordered film dealing with Prince George Co. VA. Yes the Bolling and Stith families lived near Henry Morris.

What I really want is more male Morris to do their Y marker test. I have e-mail the web master of Morris DNA Project, but I have not heard back. I want to know if others have claimed Edward Morris (1580-1663) as their family. I have Family Finder matches with known descend but those matches are not as final as Y marker matches.

I have contacted a distant Morris cousin living in NC and hope that branch of the family will do it to see if matches with Reed Morris. His oldest known Morris in Henderson Co. TN. Brother to my Frances Morris.

Then I would love to see a Morris of this group who stayed in VA do the test. Since we have documented our line back to Prince George Co. VA WE are a Virginian Morris Family. I would like to know which group. Reed Morris sample does not match any other that has been filed for Morris living in VA.

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand.....does Reed Morris sample only match the Henry Morris line in VA and not any others in VA. All of my Morris relatives live in Mississippi, none in VA.
I do live in NJ, if there is something I can help with, let me know.

Family Tree DNA has what is called Project Morris. Reed Morris is a direct male descend of my Isaac Morris of Orange Co. NC and Henderson Co. TN. Each male received certain number from their direct male line. They are assigned numbers which can be compared to other samples to see if two living males descend from the same male ancestor.

To date no male Morris numbers match with Reed Morris. Because I am assuming no persons belonging to my group of Morris have agreed do to Y marker test. If I had another kit which matches his that would confirm we have a true Morris line to seek out an earlier male ancestor.

I do have Autosomal DNA matches with my distant Morris cousins, but we are never sure where two researchers share a piece of DNA. And these families did live in VA.

All other biologically male descends of said Isaac Morris would have the same numbers as Reed Morris. If descends of the brothers of my Isaac were tested they should match the same numbers. And up the line until I determine the founding father of my group of Morris.

I believe Reed Morris line might have removed to TX I do not know about MS. The line of my Isaac Morris, his brother John did removed down to AL.

It is a very simple test and I do not understand why with a such common name you would not want to be test BEFORE you spend more time and money trying to figure out which group of Morris you belong.

If you look at the Morris DNA Program you will see the surname is found in about every state of the US with different Haplogroups and different set of number in each Haplogroup.

I am glad to have Reed Morris set of numbers because I can see some of the other Morris Families in VA with different sets of number which means I know we are not related.

My oldest known Morris ancestor--Henry Morris born c1695 Great Britain (where I do not know) died 1783 Brunswick Co. VA. He made a court statement 3 May 1739 that he Henry "he had been imported from Great Britain 21 years ago." So he arrived in 1718 and all those other Morris Families living in VA not related to him.

I still have the Y marker supplied by Reed Morris if others can be talked into being tested. Reed Morris only matches with a Hollingsworth kit. I do not see him matching with a few of the other known VA families.

Drury Stith, said Henry Morris and Michael Cadet Young (also emigrate) were in business together buying up lands in Mecklenburg Co. VA and later selling tracts for a profit.

I have no idea if he came to VA with money already at hand.

Dee Ann, I requested a lookup in the Brunswick county will book for Henry Morris. This morning I received an email showing two pages of a will for Henry Morris, died 1783. If you are interested, I can forward you the email. Cathey

I just ordered a bunch of Brunswick Co. VA land deeds and wills. But would like to have your e-mail any way.

I have to go through Prince George Co. VA land deeds again seeking out information as to the maiden names of Henry's two wives. I have no idea what I will find in up coming months.

But I am glad to know our Henry Morris not related to all those other Morris Families of early VA.

Will be seeking out the names of Henry Morris' slave for my group in Orange Co. NC had slaves.

Later,

Dee Ann Buck
