Recently I completed and received my results from Ancestry autosomol testing. I'm new to it, so its been a learning experience. I believe in some older posts on this message board that Dee Ann has also completed autosomol testing and Michael was possibly going to do his autosomol. I have also seen online the Mackay Family dna website. Is this only for those who have completed the YDNA testing? My connection to Robert Sr. is through his son Moses, and his son Moses who died in Clay County Missouri abt. 1821. My profile name through ancestry dna is russnorris61. To the wonderful world of DNA genealogy. You are going to learn more about all your blood lines and some might be a surprise.

Robert Mackay Sr. of NJ, PA and VA was my 7th great-grandfather. So we would be very distant cousin. If you have a male McKay to do the Y marker test (free) that would confirm your line stronger to Moses McKay Sr.

We have two different places that our Mackay Y marker and Family Finder DNA can be found.

Ancestry Y marker test result believe one test filed by your line of Moses Jr. They are no longer selling this test to the public. My Family Finder sample found on Ancestry, but I am not showing a match to you. You must be sure that you have released your test results to the public so you can see your matches and link the sample to your tree. Mary Meritt descend of your line of Moses Sr. from a different son also found on Ancestry Family Finder. She might match with you because you all descend from Robert Sr. youngest son Moses. I descend from the oldest son Robert Jr. She is joining DAR from your line, you might want to e-mail her.

I have some matches on Ancestry where the researcher have McKay on their listing of names but I have not figured out how.

Then we have Family Tree DNA Y marker Mackay site (free Y marker test samples offered) and Family Finder. Michael L. McKay has his Y marker sample on this site and his Family Tree Finder. My Family Finder on this site and well has Mary Meritt and her cousin Kenneth L. McKay and Jerry R. McKay both Y marker test sample. Kenneth has Family Finder, female test done on Jerry. You will find other samples of Moses Mackay on this site.

I have places * by the first name of my ancestors on my Ancestry Family Tree so you can see the various DNA sample I have used to prove my various blood lines. My tree The Buck Family Tree trees.Ancestry.com/tree/44894133/family and I have linked my DNA sample to my tree so all can see what matches I have found.

I wished I had not procrastinated so long about DNA. It has confirmed a lot of my hard work, and opened some new possibilities!

I will see if I can make contact with Mary Meritt to see how well we match. I was contacted through ancestry by a person who matched in the 6th to 8th cousin range (McKay/Job) who is a descendant of son of Robert, Zachariah. This persons tree is private, but she has allowed me to see it. I also told her about this website. Until I have her permission, or she chooses to make contact through this website I must respect her privacy.

My DNA is also downloaded to Family Finder. Maybe some day I will go ahead and do the Y marker also.

I will need to do further research on these hits.

I have one locked entry who list Mckay on list of name "dameallen" or "D.A." do you have her ?

Sorry Dee Anne I don't find that match on ancestry or family tree.

Researcher in question answer my e-mail descend of Percy W. McKay son Robert McKay son of Robert S. McKay and Nancy A. McKay (so double line of Robert Jr.) to Moses McKay to Andrew to Robert Jr. son of Robert Sr.

We share 6th great-grandfather. And we are listed as Distant Cousins. I will be interested in future to learn more why some branches of the children of Robert Sr. match and other do not.

I have only one match with descend of Moses McKay Sr. That seems to be a pattern showing up on these site.
