Are you aware of any of the Morris men participating in the Civil War? I was sent some info saying that there were Morris sons on both sides and that some left Henderson county because of this. Thanks for any help, cb

Felix W. Morris buried in Morris Cemetery of Henderson Co. TN, was Corporal with Federal Army enlisted 13 years of age, held at Andersonville, GA and nearly staved to death. He returned home where he died.

Listed with Ancestry military records G.W. Morris enlisted Gallatin TN May 1863 H.K. McConnell 93th OH. I do not know if this is the same George W. Morris brother of Francis E. Morris.

I have not heard of family members having a split due to fighting on different sides of the Civil War. But could have happened.

I am trying to trace the Morris family though John James Morris and Amamda to James G. Morris and Mahala Benson to Isaac and Elizabeth Brown. John and Amanda are my great grandparents. Thanks, cathey

Frances L. Morris (J 1c8) was my 3rd grandmother and brother to James G. Morris. The Y marker test was done by male descend of your line. The only other match with our male kit is/was a man who claims Isaac Hollingsworth as his oldest ancestor. He supplied "our" marker for our common ancestor I 1.

Since I did not contact him directly I do not know the surrounding facts about said Isaac Hollingsworth. If this Isaac Hollingsworth lived somewhere in VA that would be helpful, so we can get our Morris Family out of NC and back in time.

Somewhere back in time James G. Morris and Isaac Hollingsworth shared a common male ancestors. If we can find more male descends of Isaac Morris of Orange Co. NC that would be helpful. There were a lot of "out of wed lock children" born in Orange Co. NC. Could account for the father of said Isaac Hollingsworth being a Mr. Morris. Check one of my earlier postings.

If you did send in your Family Finder test kit we should show a match. There are other surnames you can check to see if you are also showing a match.
