I was looking at the Job website and noticed something coincidental. Anne Brown is named at Margaret MacKay's wedding. Anne is listed after Hannah Mackay below. I would have to see the actual Nottingham Quakers 1680-1889. I thought it was interesting to see that. Here is the listing from the Job website.

Nottingham Quakers 1680-1889 , Births, Deaths, and Marriages by Alice L. Beard 1989,

11 Day First Month (March)
Joshua JOB, son of Andrew of Nottingham Twp., Chester Co., Province of Pennsylvania, and Margaret MacKay , daughter of Robert of Milford Hundred, Cecil Co., Province of Pennsylvania, were married on the 11th day 1st month 1731 at Public meeting of Friends at Nottingham. Witnesses were: Joseph Elgar, Thomas Jacob, Jacob JOB, Messer Brown, Jno Littler, Caleb JOB, Elizabeth Gatchell, Simeon Taylor, Joseph Haines, William Kirk, John Gartrill, John Churchman, Jacob Beales, James Hogg, Jno Beals, George Hogg, Dinah Brown, Katherine Ross, Elizabeth Ross, Hannah Churchman, Elizabeth Hughes, Patience JOB, Rachel JOB, Abigail Gatchell, Esther Gatchell, Hannah McKay, Anne Brown, Garata Hogg, Mary Oldham, Robert McKay, Elizabeth JOB, Margaret McKay, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Thomas JOB, Elizabeth JOB, Abraham JOB, Sarah JOB, Jno White, Mary White, Elizabeth McKay and Mary White, Jr. (As there are two Elizabeth Jobs listed, I believe one of these to be the mother of Joshua and widow of Andrew JOB, Jr. Click on Joshua, above, to go to Freida's site and continue with his family)

Quaker marriage records have what is called the family column. On the right hand side under the signing of the groom and bride, Margaret "X" Job make her mark. Members of the immediate family members.

It is the "English Custom" that the bride took the name of her husband.

Anne Brown was just a member of the Society, and had nothing to do with the wife of Robert Mackay Sr. Entirely different group of Brown.

I have a copy of the marriage record in my Mackay book page 145.

I should be more clear. The Anne Brown I found is listed as a witness. Not the reference as the mother. I just looked at the document on line at the Job site. Anne Brown is listed. Whether it is our Anne Brown or not, that is pretty cool.

The Anne Brown who signed this marriage bond was a Quaker and member of a different group of Brown started by brothers Wm. & James Brown who came from England directly to his meeting house. Researchers have mixed Robert's first wife Ann Brown as being a member of this family. Brown is a very common name. I see no evidence that said Ann Brown never left NJ.

In any case, your line from Moses Mackay I BELIEVE mother was Robert's second wife Mary.

Probably the same Browns that married into our Job family that also connected to Goldsmith Chandlee the clock maker. Some of them intermarried into my Steer Genealogy. William Brown who married Mary Jackson was a descendant of the Job/Brown marriage. Also some of them into Loudoun County (Waterford) area.

But NOT the same Brown Family that intermarried with our Robert Mackay Sr. back in MA or NJ. Researchers have Ann Brown as the daughter of James Brown of MD. That is just wrong.

I have posted the Brown Family of Nottingham MM on my tree on Ancestry.
