Am fifty five years from Ghana, West Africa. One Roy or Roger Mackay from Edinburgh came to work with a Diamond Company, in Akwatia, Ghana till the first president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, asked the whites to leave the country between 1958 & 59. The company's name changed and all documents destroyed as I was told when I went to check for information in 1983. My mother died in 1979. Though I took the surname of my step-father I have decided to change that to Mackay. Could someone please help look for my father. Am a Reverend Minister and operate a private school by name Kingdom Child Academy in Kasoa, Ghana. You can get in touch with me on 233243207672 and awilly45@yahoo.com. Thanks

I would not think you belong to our group of Mackay. Our line left Scotland well before 1680's our Robert in NJ by 1719.

You should do your Y marker test through Family Tree DNA. And do Family Finder. Good luck.

This DNA site has their Mackay test kits listed on line. Our family members Michael L.McKay can tell you more about them. They also have a site called Y-Search which some kits are published on line and you can e-mail them.
