Hey Dee Ann,

I sent an email to Cousin Howard Doster, who shares both McKay and Steer ancestry to see if he'd be willing to submit a sample to the Family Tree database.

He descends from Moses McKay (Andrew, Robert Jr., Robert Sr.) and Abigail Shinn and also shares Steer ancestry. He goes through Hannah (Steer) Sexton. Mine are from Ruth (Steer) Jackson & Isaac Steer (siblings of Hannah respectively).
You might see if some of our "cousins" of OH might do the tests if you bring two or three whatever to them at their summer event.

You can e-mail the web master and just tell her you will be the administer of said kits. Groups do that kind of thing all the time.

I would probably have to have some kind of thing where we can match the kit and have the tests be funded by the Daisy Love McKay fund.

I think you would find matches with several other families like Antrim and Haines along with Job and Ridgeway to name a few.

Well about month & half for you leave for OH, you just order the kits through Daisy L. McKay fund on behalf of your cousins. They do the test and you pop them in the mail.

When you get each test kit you will receive the Kit Number & pass word. You would be the administer of the sample.

Mary Meritt drove from OK to TX to bring the two test kits to Kenneth McKay & Jerry McKay.

Their line

Robert Mackay Sr. his youngest son
Moses Mackay m. Mary Jobe
Abraham McKay m. Rachel Odell
Jeremiah McKay m. Isabella...........?
James Roger McKay m. Catherine Stuart
Jeremiah McKay m. Addie C.C. Tipton
Calvin McKay
Kenneth & Jerry McKay ones tested.

Junior McKay I believe down line from Robert, Moses & Abraham. I have Autosomal Match B. Beck down the line of Junior McKay another generation then branching off.

I would like to see more of the sons of Moses tested, but then this is not my direct line. I have my DNA test results to confirm my link back to Thomas Buck McKay for sure.
Kit #328287 & 328286 match up with the other known male descends of Robert Mackay Sr.

I think you will see all this is money well spend.

Still trying to figure out why my McKay cousins hit on different Chromosome but some all hit the same number.

I will be interest to see where your Sowers hit. Stanley H. Heiskell a Sowers & Hamilton (distant for both) 3 & 11. And I have a double line, so will be interesting to see if you two different pieces.

For our King William Families: Mitchell, Brownley & Hunt where they will line up.

It could be have additional families in common in that area.

Looking for Carey, Brownley (on my line) & Poindexter (connected with Hunt)

Looking to connect our Sowers with Crum.

Really do not know if the test will shed any light if your Jenkins and my Jenkins are the same family.

My grandparents Walter Eugene Shipp and his wife Daisy Love McKay were 9th cousin both descend of Wm. Hunt born 1599 England arrived to VA 1635 in ship "Abraham".

His line through his grandmother Mary Ella Edwards and her through her grandmother Martha V. Sowers.

It's actually saying that a portion of my ancestry is from the Middle East or North Africa.
Here's a link to my friend Sara Whitford's website:

Perhaps my "Indian" ancestors were not making it up after all.

I've heard about them when I first started looking up stuff on Indian ancestry online. I guess if they are connected to Hartless and others could explain the "Middle Eastern" blood.

It could also be a case like Irvin's in that it was present prior to immigration. Still would like to know why my Hartlesses were considered "mulatto".
Because "Mulatto" means to me "African-American". Family Tree DNA now leaves under 5% of your lines not tested.

You will need to your test done by Ancestry or track down your various female Mitochondrial blood line.

I would not have known I had 1% African if Ancestry DNA project did not measure it and confirmed from the test results of "cousin Jean".

But to find your answer which bears upon your racial make up you will have to hope others "share" their results.

You can e-mail Family Tree DNA for they are offering new test all the time.

See if you could transfer your DNA into her project, perhaps you will show matches with others in her project.

For you are missing up to 3% of your racial make up with Family Tree DNA. Still could have Native American or African ancestry.

Irvin's make up shows no Native American (missing 3%). I have transfer mine & his results to a researcher studying MS. In the hope to study my "Derryberry Mystery" and his Parker cousin removed into MS.

As you know "H" Mitochondrial is the largest and oldest one to come off the "L" (the Eve of female Mitochondrial). So it would not be surprizing to show matches around the Mediterranean.

If you would like to see my Ancestry DNA account e-mail me and I will send you one of my other accounts.

There are upsides and downsides to both Ancestry & Family Tree DNA. I have had far more matches on Ancestry, but Family Tree DNA has the Chromosome Browser which I really like.
