Sten Holtermann would be a double distant cousin, he was double line of Haines and line from Matlack.

On my Chromosome Browser two hits on #15 for 5.15 and #16 8.35. Segments 21.

I do not know still what to take from this, but perhaps showing our relationship to two different families Haines & Matlack.

He has other Quaker Families in his line: Borton, Matlack (mine), Sharp, Austin, French & Moore.

Three remaining MacKay who showed matches to my DNA profile

Pamela M. Thompson on #15 can'tget amount lived in Glasgow & New Zealand

Roderic W. Fairweather on #15 lived in Glasgow then New Zealand

Margaret Macphail on #21 Glasgow, England, NJ & Canada

G.T. H. Shaw on #12 lived in Glasgow & Canada

All these people families lived "across the pond" long after my families had left. Seem to have a connection with Glasgow

Mrs. Dorothy M. Elder pointed out three other researchers match me on #22 & #21

1. Molly Hanson on #22 families listed Italy, Canada & Suffolk, England

2. Iva Jo Carlson on #22 she might be a distant Hampton cousin and not member of our Mackay family

3. Becky Hughes on #21 as NC & TN, she could be related to my mother's mother family and not member of our Mackay/McKay family.

Since the DNA in two other cases pointed to a connection with our Robert MacKay Sr.: Linda Evans & Brian W. Beck and I have since proven it, there must be a connection with our Robert MacKay back in Scotland.

Time will tell.
G.T. Shaw was been mentioned by another researcher. According to his list of surnames Mackay, but he seems to have connection with Ferguson members as well.

Hope he will return an answer.

Brian W. Beck and share Chromosome 3 only 9.04. He included his PAF pedigree chart with his sample.

He ended his McKay line on line with Tempy Adeline McKay (1891-1928)

Through on line census it did not take me long to figure out we are 8th cousins. His line Robert Sr. to youngest son Moses Sr. to Abraham to Abraham (think his male line Y Marker on file) to Andrew Carson McKay to James Nichols McKay to Temy A. McKay to Viola M. Roberds to Hubert W. Beck to said Brian W. Beck.

So my proven distant McKay are on two different chromosome.

I am just taking people at their word that they have Mackay or McKay in their charts the remaining Pamelia M. Thompson, Roderic W. Fairweather, Margaret Macphail & G.H. H. Shaw. All their families lived in Scotland, Canada or New Zeland. Two have ancestor who lived in Glasgow.

Some people have not included surnames with their samples, so I have no idea if other of distant cousins are listed.
Said George Shaw or G.H.T. Shaw as listed on Family Tree DNA did answer my e-mail.

His tree is on Ancestry Hoare/Mackenzie and his lines like I thought all living in GB or Canada.

I do not see any connection on this side of the Atlantic. Under his listing of surname Mackay?. I can not find our surname on his charts.

He is descend of Charles Ferguson (1755-1829) born & died England.

I could have Ferguson ancestry which I am not aware.

At least that question has been answered.

Through Family Tree DNA Path Finder a researcher Dorothy Margaret Elder and I show a DNA with surname Mackay.

Her oldest named McKay-- Ann McKay daughter of Ann Provost of Killearnan, Ross & Cromarty in 1766. I would say about 4 generation later than our Robert Mackay.

I told her of your web site and hope she will give us more information. I did inform her we have the Y marker of our Robert Mackay.

Now-- if one of our other known descendants of Robert MacKay would submitt a sample to their Family Path Founder, it would be VERY interesting to see if that sample also matched her.

I thought this test only went back 5 generations, but perhaps some of the DNA lines might go back farer.

You can google said town, I do not think the parish records go back as far as we shall need.
I now have 117 pages of DNA matches on Ancestry DNA. One of the new matches by William Wales 3670. His tree is on Ancestry. He is one of those shared DNA where his people still living in Scotland.

His oldest known Isabella Mackay b. c1801 Stornoway, Ross, Scotland. Her daughter Ann Mackay b. 1827 Isle of Lewis, Scotland and died same location 1906.

Two resarchers "MM" and "B.M." descend from Ann Mackay who was born in Scotland and died in same location.

Researcher RadGiles descend from Violet Mackay b. 2 May 1717 Ireland and died 23 Jul 1791 SC. But this researcher has Moore of NC & Brown of SC, both regions were my Brown & Moore lived. So connection could be those families.

Researcher Alexander Neil descend from Charles Neil & Mary Mackay (no dates) their son Henry Neil born 1916 Glasgow, Scotland, d. 1989 in FL.

"Younco" is another known descend of Robert Mackay Sr. through youngest son Moses Sr.

"Nehodson" is another known descend of Robert Mackay Sr. through eldest son Robert Sr. Both of the last researcher have some really wild information posted in connection with our family. Like marriage not connected to the family and false middle names.

Found on Ancestry DNA site researcher "c.G.M." descend of Nancy McKay born 1740 Isle of Skye, Inverness Scotland died 18 Jun 1836 Moore Co. NC. Wife of Roderick McIver born 1727, d. 1810 NC. Both lines back in Scotland.

She has other surnames not as far back in time that I have living in NC. But her families lived eastern counties of NC.

I do not really know if the DNA we share in connection with Nancy McKay.

Location, however, is the same with all the other researchers who have lines back in Scotland.

Since I know that Stanley H. Heiskell & I share the same Hampton ancestry, I used his DNA as profile to see if the other researcher showing Scottish ancestry had same markers. Stanley H. Heiskell has #3 & #11. Since marker #3 smaller than #11, assuming #3 is his Hampton.

The only researcher showing #3 was Phyllis B. Fox and her section of #3 is rather close, but not the same.

I found her pedigree chart on line and with census information, it would appear any exchange of DNA material between the three families must haven in Britain.

She has her grandfather Charles J. Watson Jr. born 1852 in Scotland but the 1900 census stated he was born in Washington, DC, father in England and mother in Scotland.

His wife Annie M. Bolton born in Phil. PA, father in England and mother in in NY. Found her with her parents in 1880 Phil. Co. PA and her father was born in England and both of his parents. His wife Maria born in NY, but her parents in England.

The remaining researchers showing Scottish roots still the running to be the ancestry of Robert Mackay or John MacNeil and of course surnames I do not know about as of how.

So this might be a mystery I will not been able to solve.
My eldest son Travis D. Buck's DNA sample now on file with Family Tree DNA. This population finder looks just like mine. This brother Brandan Paul Buck looks just like his father.

I will be looking at the differents between my two sons, in the hope of learning how to use Chromosome Browser.

With Sowers ancestry, since Travis does have the red hair, he did pick up DNA match with Stanley Hardestry Heiskell's Sowers part, but he did not pick up the smaller Hampton part. Brandan does not shown a match at all.

With cousin Michael L. McKay--Travis picked up again the Sowers #15 28.42 (degree same as mine) but none of McKay on #1.

Brandan picked up #1 34.65 (calling McKay) and #15 12.35 that part of Sowers.

With my Mackay/McKay it is odd how my two sons will pick up different amounts or not at all.

Linda F. Rogers who is a descend of Robert Sr. through son James Sr., Travis as picked up 9.76 and Brandan pass all together.

Brian W. Beck both sons do not match. His entry also includes Jobe, so you would think they would be more likely to pick up him.

Then you have those MacKay in Canada: Pamela M. Thomson & Roderic W. Fairweather both sons pick up 11.62.

Margaret MacPhail both picked up 10.25 which is more than I did.

G.T.H. Shaw either picked up a match with him.

Are you finding these Mackay in Canada etc....?

I did notice from their father's side a match with researcher who still lives in England and they are matching.

Those two very distant Haines cousins they both show matches.

Same with the Lehew ressearcher both match.
