Mary Meritt
Can you direct me to a document that proves that Abraham McKay was the son of Moses McKay? Likewise, I would appreciate a document that shows what happened to Moses McKays Haybottom Plantation upon his death. The Big Pigeon Church Minutes provide the necessary proof that shows that Abraham was the father of Jeremiah. I need a Bible record, land record/deed, etc. that is acceptable proof of my lineage from Robert McKay.
We plan to travel to Virginia the 2nd week of October and plan to see what we can.
You mentioned that Junior McKay had put information on the internet. I have not seen that information.
I am praying that you can help me. I am so grateful for all the work that you and countless others have done to preserve our family legacy.
Mary L. Meritt
P.S. I will be happy to provide you with information and documentation regarding my McKays. I suppose that you already know but I would be happy to contribute to the collection.
My grandmother was Beatrice Belle McKay m. Robert Chester Badgwell Sr (Texas)
Beatrice was the daughter of Jeremiah McKay and his second wife Addie California Tipton
Jeremiah was the son of James Roger McKay. James Roger married Martha and her sister Catherine Stuart. (Not at the same timeJ)
Roger was the son of Jeremiah and Isabell.

If you are the one who just phone me, two sources I failed to mention.
Hopewell Friencs Records in general the book on page 499 stated that
4 11 1771 Isaac & Abraham McKay joined the Baptists
You can order through L.D.S. library the complete set of records for this Quaker Meeting House. They might have the record you need to link your Abraham as being the son of Moses Sr.
If I can find the time today I will see if I have more in "MY BIG FILE" down in the basement. My late great-Uncle Hunter McKay exchanged a few letters with a woman who came down through this line.
Another book by Amelia C. Gibreath "Shenandoah County Virginia Abstracts of Wills 1772-1850 on page 164 the will of Jeremiah Odell dated 24 Jun 1777 was has two witnesses as Isaac McKay & Abraham McKay.
Her abtract of wills for Shenandoah Co. VA is a rather poor source. For she ONLY abracted wills in these will books (which you can order through L.D.S) library system.
There should be land division of Moses McKay/Mackay Sr. lands in these books which she did not abtract.
The locations which your line will find records will be in early Augusta Co. VA (not to be confused with modern day Augusta) and Shenandoah Co. VA.
Good luck.

What Mary Meritt is looking for, of course, one might assume the above men were the brothers of said Isaac dec'd. But to be sure the documents really does not state relationship.

3. Jeremiah McKay he was JP for Shenandoah Co. VA, lots of information about him.
4. Moses McKay Jr. he removed to Clay Co. MO
5. Wm. McKay he sold his lands to Isaac Overall before removing from VA
