Check out Family DNA Project under MacKay, I believe six men related to Robert MacKay have their results posted. They were just charging $99 for test kit. Lot cheaper, if you consider your time, then doing paper research to see if related to our group of Mackay/McKay,McCoy etc....

Could be your line is just spelling the surname wrong. I have not seen MacHay.

According to a book listing Clan & Family Tartans, MacHay associated with above clan.

I have not found surname (MacHay0 among the VA records I have read over the years.

Also a rather famous family in Scotland by just Hay.

Still a DNA test would solve this mystery. The answer is in your own mouth.
