I am trying to research my McCoy family line and discovered recently that I had listed the incorrect father (and birth/death dates) for my 4th g-grandfather Enoch McCoy who married Sarah Borden, and died in Knox Co., TN abt 1800. I had confused him with another McCoy from New England. Wanted to ask an expert but from what I have seen at ancestry.com and this website it appears that my Enoch was the son of Robert, Jr. McKay and ultimately Robert, Sr. both from the Shenandoah Valley, VA.?
My line descends from Enoch and Sarah through their son John McCoy. After the family moved to Knox Co., TN John and his sons Borden/Burden "Bird" (named after his uncle) and David who is my 2nd g grandfather (also named after his uncle), and other sons show up in the 1850 St. Clair Co., AL census. My 2nd g grandfather David married Nancy Ann Dollar in St. Clair Co. in 1843 before moving to Marion, Union Parish, LA in 1858. Their daughter Frances Ann McCoy (Alston) was my g grandmother.
Am I correct in placing my Enoch with his father - Robert, Jr.? Appreciate any assistance.

I believe there is a DNA sample that has been filed for your line with Family Tree DNA.

E-mail Michael about this sample.

Shenandoah Co. VA Will Book H, dated 11 Mar 1811, has a listing of debt due or held by his estate, McKay on the list:

1. John McKay amount of his account 4 pounds, 6 S, 8 pence
2. R. McKay amount 21 pounds, 9s, 7 pence
3. Mrs Widow McKay of dec'd due 31 pounds, 1 s, 1 3/4 pence

Since said Enoch McKay married Sarah Borden, niece of Mercy Borden, decends of said couple Autosomal DNA test should match me with McKay & Borden ancestry.

According to my notes from the late Hunter B. McKay there is a court case "Peck vs Borden" filed at Staunton, VA.

Researcher "DebraMc57" descend of couple Enoch McKay and wife Sally Borden. I believe another researcher is trying to join DAR on this particular line.

Information this researcher has on this line incorrect at to the parentage of Robert Mackay Sr. and wife Ann Brown.

Also gives the first name as Alexander Enoch. I have not found any records in VA showing Robert Jr. named a son Alexander.

I have a match with descend of Margaret Mackay/McKay who married into Ridgeway Family. I have exchange paper information with descend of Robert McKay of KY. But need DNA information. Still looking for Sarah McKay who married into Hume Family of Fauquier Co. VA.

So we have Y marker tests results for this Robert Jr. and Family Finder to bind the female descends together as from the line of Robert Sr. to eldest son Robert Jr.

I have found my second Ancestry Family Finder with descends of Enoch McKay of Frederick Co. VA died TN. Married once to Sarah Borden. Kit: "grohsbi" and "DebtraMc57" one of these researcher have incorrectly posted our Enoch as Alexander Enoch McCoy as been born in PA. Does have D.A.R. record linked to our Enoch.

Years ago a person wrote to me (back in the days when we exchange information through US Postal) she wanted to join D.A.R. because Enoch McCoy sold food to the troops. I do not know if she had also linked the other Alexander McCoy to our line.

I will post each two researchers on my Ancestry Tree down to the 1940 census.
