I am trying to research my McCoy family line and discovered today that I had listed the incorrect father (and birth/death dates) for my 4th g-grandfather Alexander Enoch McCoy who married Sarah Borden, and died in Knoxville, TN abt 1800. I had confused him with another Alexander from New England. Wanted to ask an expert but from what I have seen at ancestry.com and your Robert McKay Clan website it appears that my Alexander Enoch was the son of Robert, Jr. and ultimately Robert, Sr. both from the Shenandoah Valley, VA.?

My line descends from Alexander Enoch and Sarah through their son John McCoy. After the family had moved to Knoxville, TN John and his sons Borden/Burden "Bird" (named after his uncle) and David who is my 2nd g grandfather show up in the 1850 St. Clair Co., AL census. My 2nd g grandfather David married Nancy Ann Dollar in St. Clair Co. in 1843 before moving to Marion, Union Parish, LA in 1858. Their daughter Frances Ann McCoy (Alston) was my g grandmother.

Am I correct in placing my Alexander Enoch with his father - Robert, Jr.? Appreciate any assistance.

The little bit of information I have about Enoch McKay (son of Robert Jr.) who married Sarah Borden (daughter of John) found on page 144 of my McKay Book.

Only a couple of years ago I found I have a direct connection with said Borden family through my Antrim/Foster line. I believe Michael has a link to web site about Borden's church in England.

Said Robert Jr.'s second wife also a Borden.

You will find documentation for this line in Fairfax Land Suit and law suit "Peck vs Borden" filed in Staunton, Augusta Co. VA.

The late Hunter B. McKay received information about this line from two researchers: T.L. Smith of TX and Mr. Wm. C. Holt. All his information would be dated around 1970's. I am sure you can find additional information on this branch of family through original records. I would not use information you will find in various computer banks on line--full of mistakes.

Enoch McKay & Sarah Borden has children: Patience, Rebecca, Ann, Rachel, John, David, Sarah, Peggy, Borden, Mary & Margaret McKay.

Years ago I heard from a woman who was joining the D.A.R under this line, so you might check that library.

Good luck with your research.
