I came across this website after doing a little poking around on the Du Bois family because the section of the Steer Genealogy I'm currently adding to the website intermarried with the family of David & Sarah (Hite) Brown. Sarah is given as being descended from the Van Meter and Du Bois families. Thought I'd post it and hear your thoughts on it:

I believe there is a study being conducted dealing with our Louis DuBois, however I do not know if a close DuBois cousin has send in a sample.

DuBois is very far up my particular Pedigree Chart.

People do not care if the information they are passing around is correct or not, they just want to fill in the spaces of their chart--quickly and at no cost.

Just go to various web site on the net or look at Ancestry Trees.

I haven't added any records of our DuBois ancestry to the website as of yet and I'm not sure if and when I will. I did indicate in Susannah Brown's record her line from Chretien DuBois and have her children from her 2nd husband listed in the additional families section of my Steer records.

There are a few other connections with the family of David and Sarah (Hite) Brown and the branch of Mary (Steer) Parkins. Also, intermarried with my Steer family is William Hite Hough. I don't know if he descends from Joist Hite, or perhaps he comes from one of Sarah Hite's siblings.

Did you Brown family have connection with Goose Run Meeting House in Loudoun Co. VA ?

Yes, you actually mean Goose Creek Meeting but they were more affiliated with Fairfax (Waterford) MM as were the Houghs.

Another reseacher S.M.H. send in a sample through Ancestry Beta Study and we are both descendants of DuBois Family.

Their line only researched back to a Mineva DuBois born TN 1861.

Out of the 46, I known of 6 are descendants of my line of DuBois. I have a double line from Catherine DuBois who married Wm. Millar.

1. SMH--private on Ancestry, have a entry on Family Tree

2. moromans--Catryntje DuBois b. 1692 NY, she also cousin through Reeves Bolen

3. Ted Simmons also a descend of Wm. Miller & Catherine DuBois

4. Cllarge also descend of Abraham DuBois (1657-1731)

5. theshockness also descend of Abraham DuBois

6. Pliabraaten also descend of Abraham DuBois

I am not going to list the others here, but what is interesting the number of DNA samples people still living in France, one Kent Co. England and Canada.

Like the MacKay samples a number of my DuBois cousin removed to Canada.

Found on Ancestry I have Autosomal Match with researcher "Jayshrade" she descends from Gerrit Gerritson's daughter Elizabeth (1681-1732) Members of my fellow McKay cousin we descend from his other daughter Tryntje Gerritsen who married Solomon DuBois. Their son Isaac Dubois married his cousin Rachel Dubois. Found on Dubois site the female test results of Margaret Deyo. So the Mitochondrial letter for our Ann Elizabeth Lehew "H".

Our line from Isaac Dubois & Rachel Dubois
Catherine Dubois m. Wm. Millar
Rebecca Millar m. Lionel Branson
Sarah Branson m. her cousin Eli Lehew
Ann Elizabeth Lehew m. Thomas Buck McKay.

I have a double line of Dubois and double line of Branson I have no idea if this help me be able to match with cousins back 11 generations or not.

Found on Ancestry DNA sample of "jmitchellowe" he is a known distant Lippincott cousin of mine, so the Dubois family he has in his chart might not belong to our group.

Philadelphia Dubois born 1677 Breve, Correge, France m. 1700 Daniel Duval in VA, d. 1740 Ware, Glocester, VA, her father was Jean Dubois (1660-1711) and mother Marie Deyaget.

He takes his Dubois line back to Jean Baptiste Dubois born 1568 in St. Brieux, Bretagne.

I rather thought when doing my research on our group of Dubois, that so many of the records were destroyed in France that to get the blood line really back this far, most likely made up.

Perhaps others know of this blood line.

Researcher "SF" Ancestry DNA project looking for the parentage of Sara DuBois 1723 NY died 1792 NY married to Wm. VanOrden.

I think most likley this is our shared DNA material.

She has, however, a surname I am more interested in--CARMICHAEL. She is looking for Patrick Carmichael born 1794 KY died 1882 IN married in Butler Co. OH to Margaret Lee.

I am looking to comfirm my Mary Carmichael born c1750 died 1837 Fauquier Co. VA that she was the wife of Francis Jett.
I know her first name was Mary, from another researcher her maiden name was Carmichael.

I do have other matches with this particular surname.
