Hi - do we know anything about Robert Mackay of Maryland, 1658? This individuals is referenced as someone connected to Jonathan Prater and George Gouldsmith (in his will I believe as receiving 100 acres of land).
In looking through the internet, I saw a post that states the 1658 Robert MacKay is the emigrant. Dee Ann Buck has reference this same individual in the message board. I have also been reading that he is "related" (without any proof) to a Lyle Jane McKay (female).
Do we know much about this Robert MacKay (MacKey) that had a friendship with George Gouldsmith / Jonathan Prater (who coincidently married Lyle Jane McKay)?
The only reason I ask is because Calvert Co, MD is a place that our Robert McKay owned land in later in life, as a Quaker. I wonder if there is any relationship with the MacKay's referenced in MD in 1658 and our Robert MacKay? He could have started in that area of the USA, made his way up to NJ and then back again. It is a long shot but just curious.
Thanks,
Shaun

State of VA 226 #18059 filed in Long Marsh in Clarke Co. VA Certificate of Death "Mrs. Erma E. Lee female, white, married, husband Milton Lee, age 26 years at the time of death, housewife, birth place Maryland, father ROBERT MCKAY, birth place unknown, mother Minnie Norris born in MD, informant Milton R. Lee of Berryville, VA, burial place in Berryville, VA on 1 Sep 1933, undertaker John H. Enders Funeral Home, cause of death abortion on 30th Aug 1933"
I do not believe her family of McKay related to our group. I can't seem to find the couple on census.

I do hope in the future if they really break down kit numbers by oldest known ancestor & location. We might begin to see all the various different Mackay families.
The few Mackay living in Cecil Co. MD and Chester Co. PA I have never found a paper connection with our Robert Mackay Sr. DNA samples would give us the answer if they were related.

Researchers have his tree on Ancestry and Y marker has been done from him. His numbers are a NO match for our group of Mackay.
He was born 1794 Baltimore Co. MD married Adams Co. OH and died Versilles, Brown Co. IL. Said to be son of Alexander (1775-1841) married Hannah McCullough.
Some on ancestry have the family once lived in Cecil Co. MD.
