I found him on Family Tree DNA under surname Hiatt. He kindly send a reply to my e-mail and descends from George Hiatt of early Frederick Co. VA. His 8th great-great-grandfather.

He made the statement which I agree "Family tree DNA says familyfinder only work back 6 generation, but that isn't so. I have successfully found small connections at relation that is back 10 generations"

So I do not have magically DNA, others who work at it can find the same as I have posted here. It just takes time and effort. I do not know if it makes a differents that I have doubt lines: Richards (1st cousin married), Sowers (1st cousins once removed married), Branson (1st cousins married), McKay (4th? cousins married), Ridgeway (distant), Stockton (distant), DuBois (1st cousins), Cozart (4th or 5th cousins) & Melton (triple).

Compiled back in 1951 Hiatt Family book containing 1013 pages. I will have to check at our local library.

My line, of course, not traced. So I have some work to do. I have not found at others have figured out how my Mary Catherine Hiatt fits into the family tree.

He went on to said his mother's side as Plymouth settlers (Roger Warren) in her line. So if interested in those emigrate, a descend's sample waits you in Family Tree DNA.

His ancestor was Richard Warren who came over on Mayflower. You can find additional information on his line in public library, on line and DNA study being conducted.

He has a family tale in connection with the emigrate John Hiett (sic) his wife said to be Mary Smith, who was said to be the granddaughter of Peregrine Smith.

Center of the "family tale" that John Smith took Pocahontas to England for 11 years and was the father of said Peregrine Smith. He did not say where John Rolfe was during all of this.

He stated that he has no "Native American" DNA in his sample and has found none so far among his cousins.

As I have stated all my "Family Tales" about being descend of Pocahontas just not true.

Her DNA sample on file through Family Tree DNA. She descend from Elizabeth Shobe daughter of Rudolph Shobe.

I descend from Rudolph's son Jacob Shobe who died in 1823 in Ross Co. OH was the husband of Mary Bush. Their daughter Catherine Shobe married in Ross Co.OH 3 Jul 1820 to Peter Snider.

They were the parents of my 3rd great grandmother Sarah E. Snyder.

So her DNA sample freely shared with the public I have been able to confirm again my Shobe to Snyder/Snider connection.

I now know the surnames in Sarah E. Snyder's tree: Snyder, Wentz, Bissinger, Zumwalt, Hiatt, Shobe, Heyer, Hire, Bush, Hyer, Stingley & Bosserdt.

Most I have back to the emigrate and I have no plans to do research among German & Swiss records.
Found on Ancestry DNA site researcher Chris Develbiss-Bantz descend from the same couple as I they through son Wm. and I through Catherine Stingley.

Emigrate ancestor Johannes Stingley born 1717 Switzerland, died 1772 Hampshire Co. VA/WV husband to Anna E. Bosserdt born 1725 Salford, Montgomery Co. PA died Hampshire, VA/WV.

Still looking for her parentage.

Because this researcher took time and money to share we can further confirm our line to Sarah E. Snyder. Who was once my lost orphan.

1. Johnannes Stingley (1717-1772) m. Anna E. Bosserdt
2. Catherine Stingley (1755-1848) m. Leonard Bush
3. Mary Bush (1782-1866) m. Jacob Shobe
4. Catherine Shobe (1800-c1850) m. Peter Snyder/Snider
5. Sarah E. Snyder (c1837-c1872) m. George G. Hopgood

my gr-gr-grandparents.

Using what documentation I had on her blood lines coupled with these DNA matches: Snyder, Bissinger, Wentz, Zumwalt, Jacobs, Hiatt, Shobe, Bush & and now Stingley, her bloods lines are now known. It took me 26 years !!

Through various Autosomal DNA Matches I have been able to determine which group of Snider/Snyder I belong.

Coupled with what documentation I have collected over the years, these DNA matches have allowed me to focus the areas of PA, OH, IN & KY I need further paper research.

My Sarah E. Snyder was the fourth generation of her family to come and live in US.

Not a surprize but she was also entirely of German stock and now I can explain DNA matches I have found with various German surnames.

The rest of unknown German names I believe I will be able to link with my Schipp & Sowers.
My quest for finding out the parentage of my great-great-grandmother Sarah E. Snyder is almost done. Before DNA I was "dead in the water" in Union Co. KY.

Researcher "g.t" has another one of her surnames MAYER back into Germany. His oldest known ancestor Melchior Mayer born 1495 Gross, Schsenheim, Wurttemberg, Germany.

It is my policy to find the emigrate ancestor and leave foreign research to others.

Sarah E. Snyder oldest known MAYER in US was:

1. Anna Maria Mayer born 1 Jan 1719 Habitzheim, Hesse, Germany died 29 Oct 1768 Frederick Co. MD married to Michael Bissinger. I have DNA matches with other Bissinger researchers.

2. Maria Magdalena Bissinger b. 15 Mar 1731 Ensweingen, Germany died 10 Feb 1810 Frederick Co. MD m. Jacob Snyder. I have Snyder & Wentz DNA matches

3. Daniel Snyder born 1763 Germantown, Philadelphia, PA d. c1819 Bethel, Bedford Co. PA m. Catherine Zumwalt. I have DNA matches with Zumwalt, Hiatt & Jacobs

4. Peter Snyder born c1799 Bethel, Bedford Co. PA d. before 1850 Henderson Co. KY census m. Catherine Shobe. I have DNA matches with Schaub/Shobe, Bush, Stingley & Bosserdt.

5. Sarah E. Snyder born 1837 location could be Hamilton Co. OH or KY m. 2 Jul 1862 Morganfield, Union KY to George G. Hopgood. I am 90% sure she was an only child, so finding any siblings not possible. I have DNA match with my first cousin once removed James F. Hopgood. I have various Thather matches, but I have not figured out the ancestry of Martha Thatcher. My first cousin Robb/Hopgood has a sample with Ancestry DNA but it is "locked".

Each day I receive many new matches through Ancestry DNA project, so I am hopeful new leads will turn up.

Found Ancestry DNA site researcher "RR" descend of Felix Mayer born 1700 Switzerland, d. PA married to Veronica Schmid, their daughter Veronica Mayer married Simon Gross, she born in Germany died Lancaster Co. PA.

My oldest ancestor of this surname born in Germany Anna Maria Mayer (1719-1768) married Michael Bissinger. Other researchers have taken my line back in Europe 1400's. I do not know if correct or if links up with the above researcher.

Most of his other surnames were German or Swiss. I do not see other possible links with him but with Mayer.

Found on Ancestry DNA Project "AHS" descend of Hans Jacob Schaub born 1648 died 1715 husband to Susanna Buser. I descend from another one of their sons: Jacob Schaub born 1680 died 1724 husband to Barbara Wurtz.

He takes the line back four or five generations into Switzerland.

I am really not doing research dealing with my various line back in parts of Europe. It is enough to learn who were my emigrate ancestors.

With my gr-gr-grandmother Sarah E. Snyder, her final resting place, believed, but not known. I have DNA matches for her various surnames: Snyder, Wentz, Mayer, Hiatt (not linked), Schaub, Bush & Stingley.

Family Tree DNA has given me a match with researcher Mr. Loyd George Coonrod Jr. Hitting on #21 16.37.

His e-mail has confirmed we are both descends of Johan W.A. Zumwalt & his wife Anna C.M. Jacobs (some say Fite).

This couple were my 6th great-grandparents.

My son Brandan P. Buck does not show a match with him. I guess he could not reach back to 7th great-grandparents. But in some cases he has.

Only one Zumwalt sample on Family Tree DNA, but in Ancestry DNA I have matched nine other researchers' samples.

This DNA matching has confirmed that Daniel Snider who married in Washington Co. MD to Catherine Zumwalt became the parents of my Peter Snyder who died in Henderson Co. KY He married in Ross Co. OH to Catherine Shobe (I have two DNA samples with Shobe) and they were the parents of my great-great-grandmother Sarah E. Snyder.

I have been waiting for 25 years to find the ancestry of said Sarah E. Snyder and it has been DNA which has opened the door.
Found on Ancestry "LD" descend of Mary Ann Zumwalt born 1800 MO died 1887 TN wife to David Burkett. About 105 years separate her line from mine. Could be the same family or not.

She also shares the same Hampton Family with me. Her line from Andrew Hampton born 1780 NC died 1837 TN married to Letitia Sharp.

Found Ancestry DNA researcher "fischer732" looking for the parentage of Elizabeth Schaub born 1742 Basil, Switzerland married to Matthias Schwander.

About a generation later than my Hans Jakob Schaub born 1714 in same location.

I do not see other surnames in common with her so I believe from the same group of emigrates.

The effort to contact other researchers about their results, if they answer, no helpful information as been given back.

I believe I am double distant cousin to "D.W.M" descend of Barbara Ellen Zumwalt born 1791 WV died 1870 MO wife of Henry Steele. She does not have parents listed.

She need to go back one more generation to link up with my line.

Since we know our Jacob Sowers was in Winchester, VA by 1732, I would expect to see him on the various listing of Sower/Sowers coming into VA after 1717. No Jacob Sowers listed for the right time period.

Or if his father was the one who was the emigrate. The only Sower/Sowers who arrived early enough would be:

John Sower in ship "Adventure Galley" to PA on 2 Oct 1727. Capt. John Davies. A complete listing found on the net for this ship. I do not believe if he arrived with family those names would appear on the list. Some of the lists I have seen do have males listed over 18 years of age, in which case our Jacob should be listed under said John Sower, if he was his father. No Jacob Sowers found.

There were various different Sower, Sowers, Sour etc.....coming into PA after 1717 down to 1750. I see no evidence we should think they are blood relations. DNA study could start to answer that question.

Until I find further evidence, I think Jacob or his father arrived into PA before 1717.

I have lots of film & fiche to read for early PA, perhaps something will turn up.
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "LDP" looking for the ancestry of John Michael Sowers born 1772 Rowan Co. NC died 1830 same location married to Maria Barbara Sinky.

Others on Ancestry Tree give his parents as Philip Saur born 1735 Germany died 1784 Rowan Co. NC married to Christianna Faust.

Might be the same group as our Jacob Sowers born c1696, or we share DNA with another surname, which I have not figured out.

If other of our Sowers cousin show a match also with him, that information would be useful.
