I did in the past ordered all the films or fiche I could find dealing with Henderson and Benton Co. TN. At that time I had to pay $$$ for each film or fiche and read them at the L.D.S. Library.
I have no idea if the films and fiche are now on line at their site or you might have to order the same and read them at their center. Check #6110577 (fiche) and films 0557656 and 1429846. Wm. died 22 Apr 1893 buried Camden Cemetery, Benton Co. TN. These contain a lot of information about Wm.'s family group. One has a picture of him and his house.
I have ordered a scanner and my plan is to start to place on my Ancestry Tree pictures and documents which I know are not as of now on line.

I was wondering if you knew if there was society type of view of children sired out of wedlock during this era? Who normally raised the child?

In the case sited the mother of the deceased woman who had a child with F. Melton, she took him to court to sue for support. He died shortly after the suit. I have no idea if Felix Melton's legal wife had to pay the cost.
You can find these cases in will books or land deeds books in various location.
I have scanned the above court case to my tree in Ancestry.
In the case of Wm. Morris he took charge of the child, so no need for court case.
In the end, like today, the woman is the one who supports the child.

Dee Ann, I’m sorry to keep bothering you........I am confused. Did Felix Melton or Ezekiel Melton father a child with Miss White? I found a court case for Ezekiel but not Felix.
I am still hoping to find William Morris’ will.
(I have one male Morris cousin that I am trying to talk into a DNA test (which I would gladly pay for) but have had no success.)

Tabitha White family group lived in Henderson Co. VA found on 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880. Her daughter Penelope living 1860 not on 1870 census. I believe she is the one who had affair with Ezekiel A. Melton.
On 1860 census Josephine 4 and A.F. 7 (female). I believe Josephine is the person in question. Not listed in Grandmother White's household 1870. The court record stated mother was dead at the time of the filing. What happened to the children could have died or joined another household.
I will wait and see what turns up in the future.
Wm. will is on my tree Ancestry.

The common ancestors of my Reeves Bolen who visited his kins in NC, John Bowling of MD/NC and wife Elizabeth one son Wm. Thomas who was the father of Jesse Bolin. I descend through son John Bowling who married Martha Mangum, their youngest son Reeves Bolen who removed to Henderson Co. TN.
Through Y marker DNA on file with Family Tree DNA I have been able to link my Henderson Co. TN back to the group in Granville Co. NC. This Boland/Bowling/Bolen emigrate Wm. Boland from Somerset Co. MD.
One member of this group found on Find A Grave in Somerset Co. MD, we visited the area last fall. A male member of this group has the same numbering pattern as GROUP THREE.
Lots and lots of false information linking my group with Col. Robert Bolling of early VA.
Hope the DNA company Living DNA will have a larger data base for GB. Is is what they claim.
DNA testing Y-111 familytreeDNA 809016 (should be complete Feb 21),
23andme, and AncestryDNA that was recently completed help me get past this.
