I just received an e-mail about my Edwards ancestory Gerrard Edwards.

My line from him:

1. Gerrard Edwards b. 1747, d. 1810 Morrisville, Fauquier Co. VA have a copy of his will, named as his wife Jemima and children: Benj., Elijah, Susanna, Milly & Wm. (my line).

2. Wm. Edwards b. 1787 Fauquier Co. VA, d. c1855 Fauquier Co. VA m. Maria Richards, their children: Frances M., Bushrod Payton (my line), James French & Wm. A. Edwards.

3. Bushrod P. Edwards b. 1822, m-1 his cousin Sophia Ann Richards (my line, m-2 Susan L. Rector, d. 1919 Warrenton Co. VA.

4. Mary Ella Edwards b. 1851, m. John Washington Ball, d. 26 Mar 1934 Washington, DC. Their children listed under another posting under children of John W. Ball.

The researcher is looking for the parentage of

Enoch Edwards b. 1804 m. Eliza.........? b. 1814 found on 1850 Fauquier Co. VA census with family of four children. I am guessing they removed out of the State of VA. I would try to find death records in connection with this group.

I have not been able to place this couple in my group of Edwards Family of Fauquier Co. VA.

I believe were several different Edwards Family living in Fauquier Co. VA.

When I first tried to find the ancestry of my Mary Ella I looked at Wesley Edwards & his wife Annsey Gladson, they had a daughter named Mary Julia born 1840, Sarah E. b. 1842, James A. b. 1843, Wm. H. Edwards b. 1844, Nancy Ann Edwards b. 1847, Alex. Marshall b. 1850, Lucy Frances b. 1854, Catherine Roberta b. 1855 & Virginia Anges b. 1858. I believe said Wesley was the son of Franklin Edwards b. c1775 married 12 Jun 1800 in Fauquier Co. VA to Nancy Linton. I have never been able to connect them with my group of Edwards.

If other can help her post a message here. I would hope a well run DNA study of the surname in VA could sort them out from each other.
Ancestry Family Finder researcher "Relberson" descend of John Emmett Edwards son of Bushrod P. Edwards and first wife Sophia A. Richards, they were cousins. He son of Wm. & Maria (Richards) Edwards he son of Gerard Edwards.

Researcher "shaungedwards" descend of Henry Whiting and wife Ann Beverly through their daughter Elizabeth and my line from their daughter Mary Whiting who married George Baylor. Their daughter Frances Baylor married Humphrey Richards. Their son John Richards's two children Thompson H. and Maria their children married so I have two lines from this Whiting.

Bushrod P. Edwards married his cousin Sophia Ann Richards their daughter Mary Ella Edwards married John Washington Ball.
Found on Family Tree DNA Whiting Project and Y Search WU4QK Y marker kit of Clark Whiting descend of James Whiting of England to early VA. Group G2a. There are no other kits that match his and two other families under the name Whiting.

This line goes not my Richards family which I have a double line.

My great-grandmother Dessie Green Bolen belongs to Group 3 Bolling DNA Site. The number patten set: R1b1: 13,24,14,11,11,12,12,12,13,13,13,29. Her emigrate ancestor found on Todd Bolen "The Bolling, Bowling,Bolen Family" page 243 Fh 751.

I will in the future be seeking out paper documents and DNA matches with families that once lived in Somerset Co. MD. Here is what I have now on the first six generations:

1. William Bowland--THE EMIGRATE--b. c1645 BG (do not know location) d. after 1711 Somerset Co. MD. Wife first name Elizabeth. Her arrival to Maryland 1666 listed as Elizabeth Bowland. Therefore I am assumed married somewhere in England. Wm. Bowland named in the will of Wm. Hill dated 1715 filed in Somerset Co. MD "Elizabeth daughter of Wm. Bouland and Margaret daughter of Thomas Pollet. I believe this Wm. Hill was the brother of said Elizabeth who married Wm. Bowland. Need to find DNA matches with Pollet researchers. Children: Elizabeth and Wm.

2. William Bowland b. c1680 Manokin Hundred, Somerset Co. MD, d. 1735 his will on file, m. Eleanor Olandman who died 1741. She daughter of Denum. Their children: Wm., James , Elizabeth and Sarah. Will seek out future matches.

3. William Bowland b. c1718 (called eldest minor child in father's will), d. 1765 Somerset Co. MD or Granville Co. NC, m. Elizabeth..........? have DNA matches with BAXTER researchers. Children: John, Eliabeth, James, BAXTER and Benj. I have DNA matches with lines of John, Baxter and Benj. Last group of researchers gave so many Y marker test Group 3 is also called Benjamin Bolen Group.

4. John Bowling b. c1738 Somerset Co. MD, d. 1814 Granville Co. NC m. Elizabeth........? made her mark with "E" seeking our surnames Manning and Britton (have DNA matches with both). They removed down to Granville Co. NC, hope to find their marks in that location, found in Granville Co. NC they removed to York Co. SC where they settled their younger children, he removed back to Granville Co. NC where he died. Children: John, Wm. Thomas, Orderly, Benj., Manning, Mary Viana, Thomas, Elizabeth and Britton. I have DNA matches with: John, Wm. Thomas, Benj., Manning and Thomas.

5. John Bowling b.1755 MD, d. c1839 Granville Co. NC m. Aug 1790 Granville Co. NC Martha Mangum. Burial Bowling Mountain in Durham Co. NC. Children: Willis, Elvey, Polly, Riley, Yancy, Joseph, Josephine, Sarah, Martha, John and Reeves. I have DNA matches with Willis, Yancy, Joseph and Reeves. I think I will find in the pedigree charts of Reeves: Willis, Riley, Yancy and Reeves (double line on Martha's side).

6. Reeves Bolen b. 1 Dec 1818 Granville Co. NC d. 1864 Henderson Co. TN, burial Carrington Family Cemetery, Pleasant Exchange, Henderson Co. TN. Had a paper statement that Reeves Bolen took trips back to NC from TN to visit "cousin" Lucy Clark. I have DNA matches with her descends. Children: John Wiley (supplied Y marker), Lareny, Aeriadna Josephine, Martha Jemima and Sion Monroe. I have DNA matches with John W., A.J. and S.M. Bolen.

My family Kellum found on different branch of my family lived in Somerset Co. MD and also removed down to Granville Co. NC. One thing I have seen with this branch of my family if they named a child with first name that looks like a surname, I can find that surname somewhere on my chart. With DNA matches now I can rule in or out a certain name.

I am so glad I ran across your posts!! I've been working on this Group 3 line for almost 15 years now. Frustrating!!

I didn't stay long with Group 3 and Pocohontas though because it didn't make any sense to me, even though others in our family believed it.

I had figured out that Benjamin's dad was probably William who came from Maryland, but I had no way to prove it. I didn't know about a will in Somerset Co. Is that on-line?

My line is proven back to Benjamin and Charity Larrimore, through their son, Jeremiah and his son, Ezekiel.

I've done no DNA testing yet. Since our Bolling line stopped with my gg-grandmother we have no male Bollings in our direct line yo y-test. My sister does live in Wise Co., Va though and I'll be there this summer. I would love to find a male Bolling from Wise to test!

I have mostly the same names as you for John and John, Jr. Where I'm having trouble is connecting Justice, Jesse and Benjamin. And, by the way, I believe the Benjamin, son of William, is a different man than the one who married Charity Larrimore. No proof on that yet though.

Anyways, I'm so pleased to see your research. Gives validation to mine. Thank you!

I'd like to share your message if that's ok with you? Let me know.

"The Bolling, Bowling, Bolen Family" copyright 1997 by Todd Bolen printed in his book information given to him as it by various researchers. This book was printed before DNA. There are no groups in his book, just listed by first names. But when the Bolling Family DNA Project was started his numbering of all his entries were sited by each DNA Kit. The funny thing is this act clearly showed how few Bollings really are members of Group One (Col. Robert Bolling) most are not. In his book most claimed to be descends of John Bolling and wife Elizabeth Blair. Researchers had her having 21 children all lived and produced the heir each researcher needed !!!

Group One Col. Robert Bolling, I think only has about six kits
Group Two Thomas Bolling of The Swain of Fairfax Co.VA
Group Three called Benj. Bowling group of NC

There are other groups.

The information found on various tree in Ancestry have carried on all this false material. What is sad is people who have had their DNA test belonging to my Group Three still want to have in their tree Col. Robert Bollings' line.

The Benjamin Bowling in my Group 3 was married to Patsy Phebe. His descends have supplied 14 Y marker kits to confirm their line.

My policy is not to speak of blood lines that I have personally researched. I am just keep a record of the siblings of my direct line. I have not tracked down Benj's descends.

I can not say if your line is part of Group Three or not.

I have books dealing with Somerset Co. MD but I think if you try you might find their wills on line. Find a Grave has Boland entries.

Todd Bolen has a entry for your Jeremiah Bolling (sic) on page 96. But I will not quote from it because I have no idea if the information is correct.

If you do your Autosomal DNA test with Family Tree or Ancestry descends of my line are in both. If you are on Ancestry I can gift you my tree, for my DNA Family Finder is linked to my profile. And I have tried to log in each of my Bolen matches.

At the moment Family Tree DNA site is down, later you might check to see if a Bolling from Wise Co. VA has been test. Great Bolling Site.

People are very suborn and want to hold on to their false information, now we have DNA if they do not change then they just look foolish.

Family Tree DNA Project Bolling is up you might want to look at Group 6. If you see a name you think might be yours, e-mail back or might check first Y Search. Assuming you know about that site.

Good luck.

Found Ancestry DNA match researcher "lynntentou" descends from Wm. Brown (1658 England-1746 MD/PA) his son Mercer Brown 1685-1733 his son Mercer Brown 1717-1795.

I descend from brother of Mercer Sr. This Brown Family line goes through my mother's side of my tree.

These are the Brown family some Mackay Researchers have the wife of Robert Mackay Sr.--Anne Brown linked. Just plain wrong. This Brown Line goes down through my father's side of my tree.

I am still waiting for a DNA match with some researchers who have traced their lines back to early NJ or MA with Brown. Most likely of Scottish ancestry.

For those researcher who claim Hampton ancestry through John Hampton and his wife Martha Brown, daughter of Abraham. I have four matches with Brown researchers who descend from Abraham's brother. If you descend from said John Hampton & Martha Brown you should also have these matches.
Ancestry Tree Family Finder kit supplied by "busymprk" descend of Ruth Elizabeth Brown b. 1759 Loudoun Co.VA died 1827 OH or IN married John Neptune.

Her ancestor would have been about the same age of my John Brown who lived in Loudoun Co. VA and removed down to Orange Co. NC with wife Margaret.

Our common ancestor was Wm. Brown and Ann Mercer. Hope she has more information about the group that lived here in Loudoun Co. VA.

Ancestry DNA Project researcher "Daniel Jones" descend of said couple Thomas & Anne Todd through their son Thomas.
Ancestry Family Finder researcher "EFA" tree Lynn Moore McCreeny descend of Thomas Todd and Ann Lovelace Gorsuch through son Thomas. I descend through daughter Lucy. It is the Gorsuch lines which go back to Charlemagne.

She is also a distant Denton cousin, her line not back to the emigrate.

She is descend of Bollings Group One. Interested in her Cary Family. Looking for a link with my Mitchell of King Wm. Co. VA.

She is also descend of one of my Taylor lines the one started by Dr. Rowland Taylor. He burned at the stake by Queen Mary of England.

Researcher "Michael Newson" descend of Samuel & Catherine (Bryant) Kittrell through their son Samuel. My line through their daughter Dicy Kittrell who married Joseph Rogers. I have a copy of her will naming her grandson Samuel A. Rudd who was living with her 1850 NC census.

This bit of DNA goes down to my grandfather Roy D. Hopgood.
Researcher "H.F" tree Jackson Family Tree descend of Samuel's daughter Mary Jane Kittrell (1813-1880) married to Gillian Elder Jackson.

She has Hunt of VA not back far enough to see if the link might be where as well. She has Gooch, that family intermarried with some of my other NC families. But I do not have Gooch in my tree as far as I known.

So she could be a double distant cousin.

I have received e-mail from "ph5693" she manager of her father Family Finder "JL" stated he was a male descend of sought after Floyd McKay. We can only hope he will take the Y marker test with Family Tree DNA. If "Kevin" would take the test his McKay lived in Frederick Co. MARYLAND.

Either way if they match each other that would help those researchers. If they match "our" group of Mackay, which I do not think will be case, would give us new areas to search for cousins of our Robert Mackay. Paper documents would appear to rule out they were direct descends of our Robert Mackay Sr. of NJ, PA, VA.
Still hope that the researcher who's father male line of descend from Floyd McKay will send in his Y marker, so this matter can be settled for sure.

Kit#59827 Just has oldest ancestor as John McKay of IN, Scotland is a R-M269 13,24,15,10,11,15,12,12,11,13,13,29

Obviously not a descend of our Robert Mackay of NJ/PA/VA, but where in IN did he live?

Found L.D.S. #306947 Orange Co. NC deed & minute books only date given 1817 for the above case. I do not think the Isaac Morris is my direct ancestor.

Jury finding Issac Morris guilty in "the bill of instrument" The record does not say what he was charged with "taken to the public whipping post 39 lashes on his bare back and cost of 100 pounds fee & cost".

This film is full of others in Orange Co. NC also whipped & fined for having "unlawful relations" resulting in children born "out of wedlock". I do not know if this is the case with Isaac Morris, or he did something else.

My Isaac Morris it is said was in TN in by this time, however the dates are not applied to each case file, just what was done each year.

There was a Isaac Morris who married in Orange Co. NC on 8th Jan 1812 to Nancy CHEEK. And I do not know if or how he is related to my group of Morris/Brown of Orange Co. NC.

Members of our McKay family married into the Cheek family, perhaps others know who this Isaac Morris was who was whipped.

With so much new information I am finding with Shipp & Snyder I have not found the time to post information in connection with my Morris & Brown families which I have found months ago.

I have not run Isaac Morris & Elizabeth Brown through Ancestory.com to see whats others have posted.
I believe I just received an e-mail from a descend of this Isaac Morris. Perhaps the mystery of the link between Hollingworth and Morris might be found.

Still looking for more Morris Y marker kits. These are the DNA which will really link together the Morris of TN back to Orange Co. NC back to Prince George Co. VA.
