Found on Ancestry DNA site six DNA kits match all from Edward Ball of early Middlesex Co. VA, he died 4 Sep 1726. He was the sexton of Christ Church, for his entire life. After his death his wife Keziah took over the duties (for pay of course) and took in the poor of the parish for money.

This was not a couple with a lot of funds. People who insist linking them with other rich Ball Families of VA are just wrong.

All my family tales about John Washington Ball being a member of Wm. Ball of VA family were false.

There is a DNA study going on, but they do not break out for researchers the various groups of Ball living in VA nor the rest of the county. My group I believe "R" and above Wm. Ball "I"

I do believe he (Edward) was the emigrate, for I see no evidence he had an old generation helping his family through life.

Edward & Keziah Ball had 12 children and their names and birth dates can be found on Christ Church Parish Records, Middlesex Co. VA. The church is still standing.

Catherine, Arthur, Johannah, Edwards (3 kits), Elizabeth, Kezia, Mary, Ann, Phebe, Daniel (1 kit), Wm. & Benj. (2 kits).

They did not have a son named Valentine Ball. As two researchers have on their DNA listing.

I am sure there are additional matches on Family Tree DNA site.

Researcher "akhenaten4" tree Kehoe Extended Tree descend of Edward's son Wm.

I have had for years the book by Mary Taylor Brewer "From Log Cabin to White House".

I quickly figured out my Chapman Taylor of SC & KY was not a member of this group of Taylor. I knew that a group of the Orange Co. VA Taylor had removed to Union Co. KY, but others might have thought the same Taylor as our group in Union Co. KY, but they were not.

You can find on line lots of information about the execution of Dr. Rowland Taylor during the reign of "Bloody Mary".

The ancestry of Elizabeth Taylor who married Henry Duke I do not think is questionable. The DNA evidence supports paper documentation.

I have about 16 pages of matches for Taylor surname, which I need to look at again.

1. Dr. Rowland Taylor m. Margaret Tyndale. Some researchers take his ancestry back a few more generations.

2. Thomas Taylor m. Elizabeth Burwell born died in England. I do not know if the same Burwell of early VA.

3. Thomas Taylor m. Margaret Swinderly, I have Autosomal DNA Match with another one of their sons.

4. John Taylor m. Elizabeth.........? came to VA 1648, I have three Autosomal DNA matches with two other sons.

5. Richard Taylor m. Sarah Barker daughter of Wm. Barker "Mariner", she would marry second to Robert Lucy, his daughter by unknown first wife would marry John Taylor

6. John Taylor m. Henrietta Maria Lucy, daughter of Robert, they had only daughters: Frances, Henrietta Maria (I have a Autosomal DNA match), Sarah & Elizabeth

7. Elizabeth Taylor m. Henry Duke

So in future when I am checking new matches I will be looking for this group of Taylor, Barker, Ward & Lucy
A number of the male descends of Rowland Taylor have send in their Y Marker Kits and form the Group 2. This is the family who produced two Presidents.

R-P 311 13,23,14,11,11,14,12,12,11,14,13,29

I have found a number of Autosomal Matches with me and this group of Taylors. This bit of DNA comes from my grandmother Olive Odillion (King) Hopgood.

I have been informed that male Taylors who claim descend from the group who lived in SC. Their DNA numbers confirm what I have believed for years that the two Taylor Family were not related. That does not stop people from posting the wrong information on their charts. They form Group 18

RM-269 13,25,14,10,10,15,12,12,12,13,13,29

This bit of DNA came to me through my grandfather Roy D. Hopgood. People who claim descend from SC Taylors should also match my cousin James F. Hopgood. I do not think he is also a descend of Group 2 Taylors (descends of Rowland Taylor).

I have a third Taylor line which I have found Autosomal DNA Matches with descends of Samuel Taylor who married Susannah Horseman. I have no idea if a Y marker test have been filed for him. Since he was a Quaker I would not be surprised if his blood line has been part of Family Tree DNA Quaker Project. Their results are not shared with others.

Capt. John Taylor born 1746 VA died 1781 SC m. Sarah Hirons (1751-1782) both location SC their son

Rev. Wm. B. Taylor born 1779 died 1857 married to Elizabeth Calvert (1782-1850 their daughter said

Researcher "lyndeemcc" tree Newcomb,Talbott, Beard, Chappell Tree descend of Wm. Taylor who divided his lands in Logan Co. KY among his sons. My line from Chapman Taylor this line from son Wm. Taylor born 1755 VA (sic) died 1808 Logan Co. KY married to Polly Lucas. I have had for years a copy of his will. He named his wife and only mentioned estate to be kept together for his "young children".

This researcher descend from said couple's son Asa Taylor born 1801 died 1865 married to Mary Elizabeth Ainley.

So they are members of Group 18 of the Family Tree DNA Project, if they could produce a sample.

Not related to the Taylors of Orange Co. VA.

I have been informed that said Asa Taylor was married twice first wife mother of children was Mary Foy. Researchers who descend from this couple should look for DNA matches with said Foy family. His second wife was Nancy Fowler who was a widow at the time of her marriage to Asa. She had been married to Wm. Matthew Ainley. No issue from Asa's second marriage.

Researcher on Ancestry DNA site "chsyles20" ancestors were Joshua Howard & Joanna O'Carroll of early Baltimore, MD. This cousinship goes back 10 generations.

I have had several matches with Gist surname, so that line is solid all the way down to me. I have found one Murray researcher who also matches with me and now another family marrying into the Gist family this Howard. I have confirmed two blood lines coming into that branch of the family.

People have placed on line that Christopher Gist was a member of The Washington Family of VA, back in England. I have really found no evidence that is true. The odds of finding a researcher who decends from that family in England, I do not think possible.

His wife Edith Cromwell, people have linked her to Oliver Cromwell. I do not think the evidence is presented with their pedigree charts.

This proven line:

1. Joshua Howard b. 1665 Manchester, England, d. 1738 Baltimore, MD m. 1686 Baltimore, MD to Joanna O'Carroll born c1668 Ireland, d. 1763 Baltimore, MD. The other researcher through their son Henry Howard

2. Mary Howard b. 1712 Baltimore, MD, d. 1755 NC m. Nathaniel Gist. There is a Y study dealing with this family on Family Tree DNA. Many people have joined DAR with this family.

3. Joshua Gist b. Baltimore, MD, d. c1811 Henderson Co. KY married Elizabeth Kellam, have sheets on this surname to do.
He was at "The Battle of Kings's Mountain". With a couple of cousins and uncle.

4. Nathaniel Gist b. c1785 Greene Co. NC, d. 1843 Morganfield, Union Co. KY. Married Patsy Brooks

5. Nancy Gist b. 24 Sep 1818 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, d. 29 Jul 1879 same location, married Aaron Taylor

6. Mary Ann Taylor b. 11 Nov 1838, d. 25 Nov 1926 Morganfield, Union Co. VA, married Samuel A. Rudd

7. Alice/Allie Rudd b. 29 Sep 1867 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, d. 24 Jul 1947 Mississipppi Co. MO married Henry H. Hopgood

8. Roy D. Hopgood m. Olive O. King

9. Patsy D. Hopgood m. R.E. Shipp

10. Dee Ann Shipp (me) m. Irvin P. Buck Jr.

Found Ancestry DNA sample of "jsbristol" he descends from John Rust (1719-1811) son of John Rust & Agnes Clements. I descend from their son Samuel Rust.

So we have another link between the family in VA and NC/TN.

He has another surname in common with me Bowling, but I think a different group.
Researcher "lovechriskelly" descend of John Rust & his wife Agnes Clement through his son John. I descend from their other son Samuel. This bit of DNA links Rust Family of VA with my branch who removed to NC then to TN. This link confirms my link with my great-grandfather Joseph H. King.
