Found Ancestry DNA project site researcher "Cooper_65" seeking the couple John S. Taylor born 1756, d. 16 Aug 1853 Monroe, GA married 2 Jun 1803 SC to Edith Broadway.

My Wm. Taylor b. c1727 who lived in SC removed to Logan Co. KY had four sons: Chapman, Asa, Edmund & Wm.

I have no evidence one way or the other if Wm. had brothers.

I do not see other surnames which might explain our shared DNA.

Ancestry DNA Project researcher "D.W." looking for the ancestry of Mary Ann Polly Taylor born 1794 GA died 1870, married Abraham Hill (1785-1841)

Other researchers have the parentage of her as:

Capt. John Taylor born 1746 VA died 1781 SC m. Sarah Hirons (1751-1782) both location SC their son

Rev. Wm. B. Taylor born 1779 died 1857 married to Elizabeth Calvert (1782-1850 their daughter said

Mary Ann Polly Taylor

Said John Taylor same generation as my Chapman Taylor he son of Wm.

Researcher on Ancestry DNA site "chsyles20" ancestors were Joshua Howard & Joanna O'Carroll of early Baltimore, MD. This cousinship goes back 10 generations.

I have had several matches with Gist surname, so that line is solid all the way down to me. I have found one Murray researcher who also matches with me and now another family marrying into the Gist family this Howard. I have confirmed two blood lines coming into that branch of the family.

People have placed on line that Christopher Gist was a member of The Washington Family of VA, back in England. I have really found no evidence that is true. The odds of finding a researcher who decends from that family in England, I do not think possible.

His wife Edith Cromwell, people have linked her to Oliver Cromwell. I do not think the evidence is presented with their pedigree charts.

This proven line:

1. Joshua Howard b. 1665 Manchester, England, d. 1738 Baltimore, MD m. 1686 Baltimore, MD to Joanna O'Carroll born c1668 Ireland, d. 1763 Baltimore, MD. The other researcher through their son Henry Howard

2. Mary Howard b. 1712 Baltimore, MD, d. 1755 NC m. Nathaniel Gist. There is a Y study dealing with this family on Family Tree DNA. Many people have joined DAR with this family.

3. Joshua Gist b. Baltimore, MD, d. c1811 Henderson Co. KY married Elizabeth Kellam, have sheets on this surname to do.
He was at "The Battle of Kings's Mountain". With a couple of cousins and uncle.

4. Nathaniel Gist b. c1785 Greene Co. NC, d. 1843 Morganfield, Union Co. KY. Married Patsy Brooks

5. Nancy Gist b. 24 Sep 1818 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, d. 29 Jul 1879 same location, married Aaron Taylor

6. Mary Ann Taylor b. 11 Nov 1838, d. 25 Nov 1926 Morganfield, Union Co. VA, married Samuel A. Rudd

7. Alice/Allie Rudd b. 29 Sep 1867 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, d. 24 Jul 1947 Mississipppi Co. MO married Henry H. Hopgood

8. Roy D. Hopgood m. Olive O. King

9. Patsy D. Hopgood m. R.E. Shipp

10. Dee Ann Shipp (me) m. Irvin P. Buck Jr.
The grave marker for my ancestor Joshua Howard (and others of course) found on "Fine A Grave", buried Grayrock Pikesville, Baltimore, MD. Clearly stated born in Manchester, England emigrated to MD 1687.

A number of researcher have him linked to the wrong group of Howards who settled in VA.

I have Autosomal Match with researcher "JillJohnson25" she descend of Cornelius Howards born 1637 VA died 1680 married to Elizabeth Lovelace GORSUCH.

Our DNA match is not with Howard but with Gorsuch. Both of us descend from John Gorsuch (1609-1648) married Ann Lovelace. I descend through daughter Anne Lovelace who married Thomas Todd. Their daughter Lucy Todd married John Baylor and my blood down through my Richards Family of Fauquier Co. VA

If interested the Gorsuch & Lovelace those families can trace their lines back to Charlemagne.

She also has a interesting Snyder line, for her oldest known Conrad Snyder born 1765 Germany died 1840 OH. Same location in Germany as mine and my line also lived in OH.

She had to get her line back another 75 years to see if our DNA match linked to this family as well.

Found on Ancestry DNA site DNA sample given by "L.K.H" her line from Mary Fortune born 1762 died 1850 McDowell Co. NC married 1780 to Andrew Brown.

Our common ancestors John Fortune & his wife Lucy, I descend through son Wm. Fortune Sr.

I have over the years exchange paper documentation with my various distant Fortune cousins and it would appear a number of them have send in their DNA samples.
Ancestry DNA Project researcher "JES" looking for the parentage of Martha Fortune born 1792 VA died 1882 married to John Wilkes (1790-1851). She does not give any more information.

Others on Ancestry Tree have linked her Martha to my line of Wm. & Sarah (.....?) Fortune.

People have picked some old undocumented material on the Fortune family and placed it on the net and others in turned have spread it around even more.

William's wife Sarah maiden name still unknown. It was Wm's two brothers Thomas & Benjamin who married Eubank women.

I have been told a Mr. Thomas Eubank has his DNA sample on Family Tree DNA "Family Finder" and I am not matching with him.

Since so many Fortune researchers have picked up this wrong information, we must weed out these Fortune researchers and look to see if we match with researchers who just have Eubank in their blood line. I have not so far matched with them.

The children I have been able to document belonging to my line of Fortune. Wm. & Sarah Fortune. The late reseacher Alma Fortune thought Wm.'s wife was Sarah LOCADOO, also spelled LocAdoo, Lockado or Locador. She found this family signing documents in Rutherford Co. NC with Fortune, from this is where came her thought as to maiden name of Sarah. However Wm. would have been married in Albermale Co. VA, surname not found in that location.

1. John Fortune born c1775 married 26 Jan 1796 Albemarle Co. VA to Nancy Melton d. 10 Mar 1834. Since I have a triple line of Melton, matches with their descends really not useful.

2. Wm. Fortune b. c1776 in Albemarle Co. VA to Sarah Melton (my line) m-2 15 Sep 1816 Rutherford Co. NC to Clarissey Smelly, d. 29 Nov 1822 Lincoln Co. NC. He was hanged for killing his wife. His act must have been "really uncalled for" since during his time period husband were allowed to "discipline their wives". Still true today in some places in the world.

3. Pleasant Fortune Sr. b. 1778 m-1 1801 Polly Fortune, m-2 Elizabeth Melton, d. 10 Dec 1840. Really not useful having matches with descends of this couple, for I have same Fortune & Melton ancestry.

4. Richard E. Fortune b. 1778 m. 1803 Martha Thacker. Father's pension monies mailed to him. the last two children born in Rutherford Co. NC. Would want a match with his couple, for I do not have Martha's ancestry.

5. Lindsey Fortune b. 1792, m. 1816 Rutherford Co. NC to Rebecca Bell, listed 1860 Whitefield Co. GA census. Wm. Fortune bondman for his marriage record. As far as I know I do not have Bell, matches with their descends would be useful.

6. Elizabeth Fortune b. 1799 m. 1818 to Hartwell B. Bell, d. c1880 Whitfield Co. GA. Lindsey Fortune was the bondman for her marriage record. They could have married siblings.

New matches show up every day in Ancestry DNA, so I will be looking for matches with the above couples.

Researcher "LindaBauer87" descend of Edward Ball & wife Keziah Osborne through older son Edward. I descend from their youngest son Benj.

The parentage which she has posted about Edwards Sr. is false. We have the Y marker for this group of Ball. The Ball family associated with George Washington different letter "I".

This fact does not seem to stop our group of Ball Family Members trying to link us to the mother of George Washington.

She has two other surnames could be the same as mine:

Mathias Barber born 1720 died 1764 Sussex Co. NJ married to Jane Foster. My group of Barber married into my Lippincott of Monmouth Co. NJ. This is believe different group than the surname Barber in VA. Associated with Glascock Family.

Also looking for Riller Hutchinson born 11 May 1795 VA died 6 Jul 1860 Madison Co. TN married Nathaniel Coonse.

My Hutchinson from Wm. Hutchinson born 1604 Middlesex Co. VA and his descend married into my Jett Family of Fauquier Co. VA
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "terri204" descend of Edward Ball & Keziah Osborne through older son Edward who married Sarah Owens. We are 7th cousins.

I descend from their youngest son Benj. who also married into the same Owen family.

So we are distant Ball & Owen cousin.

He has Stone & Stokes which I could share ancestors.

So if you think your Ball family descend from this couple, we have the DNA samples that you can compare your blood line.

The surname Locadoo, Lockado or Locador I am showing no matches with other researchers. Others have placed information about the surnames on line, however I do not know if a researcher who has documented their blood line to this surname has placed a sample in Ancestry.

I would need to know that if the sample is present.

At least 11 researchers kits show common DNA material. A number of researcher's results were private so their could be more. I know a few on found on Family Tree DNA.

At least one reseacher takes the family back into England three more generations. Since no documentation is found I will start with my known ancestor:

1. John Rudd b. c1678 some say Yorkshire, England, d. 1749 Chestfield Co. VA. Wife Avis Whitaker. Some have listed her parentage, again no documentation given?

2. Joseph Rudd b. c1712 Henrico Co. VA, d. 1779 Mecklinburg Co. VA, Wife Wilmouth..........?

3. Wm. Rudd b. c1751 Mecklenburg Co. VA, d. c1779 same location, wife name unknown to me.

4. Wm. Henry Rudd b. 1772 Mecklenburg Co. VA, d. 1853 Warren Co. NC, Wife Sarah.........? name from land deed, another wife mentioned in his will to be buried by his wife Emily Thomas.

5. John D./Elijah D. Rudd b. 1805 Granville Co. NC, d. c1868 Morganfield, Union Co.KY m-2 Nancy Rogers. I believe to escape his creditors in NC he removed to KY and changed his first name from John to Elijah. All three of his marriage records found in NC as John D. For the 1850 census who will find his children were living in different household than with him. Guess a matter of money.

6. Samuel Alexander Rudd b. 14 Feb 1837, d. 8 Jul 1882 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, Wife Mary Ann Taylor, their graves on "Fine a Grave". I have a picture of her

7. Alice/Allie Rudd b. 29 Sep 1867 Morganfield, Union Co.KY, d. 24 Jul 1947 East Prairie, Mississippi Co. MO, Husband Henry H. Hopgood.

These were my gr-grandparents. Line back 10 generations.
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "harig52" descend of John Rudd born 1706 Henrico Co. VA died 1754 Chesterfield Co. VA married to Hannah Russell. Through daughter Jane born 1737. Researcher does not give parentage.

We know her John son of John Rudd Sr. & wife Avis Whitaker, so I know this could be my only shared DNA material.

She also descend of Wm. Cannon born 1673 Henrico Co. VA died 1747 Albemarle Co. VA married to Judith Woodson. Others have given his parentage back a few more generations and linked to the family of Col. Robert Bolling of early VA.

I am looking for the parentage of Elizabeth Cannon b. 1685 died 1737 Christ Church, Middlesex Co. VA married to Wm. Hammitt. Their daughter married into my MacNeil who married into my Ball family.

I do not see the link between my Cannon family and her group of Cannon.

Researcher "AMMW" descend of Martha Thatcher born 1714 Chester Co. PA died 1808 Delaware Co. PA wife to Thomas Long. Her DNA sample does not give parentage.

Other researcher give the father of Martha as Jonathan and he the son of the emigrate Richard Thatcher.
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "slwheel58" looking for the parentage of Evan Thatcher born 1786 Winchester, VA died 1877 same location married Rachel Brannon (1791-1884) daughter of John born in Ireland & Rebecca Baldwin.

She does not give parentage. I think others have placed his parents name incorrect.

Two of the sons Richard Thatcher & wife Edith Grubb settled in Berkeley Co. VA and married woman from Hopewell Friends in Frederick Co. VA. Stephen Thatcher of Berkeley Co. VA/WV amrried Ruth Faulkner of Middle Creek, VA I have the names of some of their children no Evan.

Samuel Thatcher of Berkeley Co. VA d. 1776 married Mary Wright of Frederick Co. VA, she married after his death into Shinn family. I have the names of three of his children, no Evan.

However, Richard had three others sons: Jonathan, Thomas 7 Wm. and I do not know if they removed to VA with their two brothers.

I have become aware of possible Mitochondrial DNA sample of my great-grandmother Moslena Ball wife of Mathias H. Shipp. The person or persons involved have not directly come forward with this new information. It might be a clue as to the female emigrate ancestor of my grandfather Walter Eugene Shipp.

I will be seeking out new females who are willing to share this new kind of information. And I will be collecting primary sources for this particular line in NJ.I am only listing issue that might contain female blood lines.

Goal to see if DNA Letter "L" matches up with the documentation.

Starting with my great-grandmother:

1. BALL, Moslena b. 1877 VA, d. 1958 FL m. Mathias H. Shipp they had Noreen E. Shipp (two living persons) & Virginia Lee Shipp (I don't know if she had children or a daughter), her mother

2. EDWARDS, Mary Ella b. 1851 VA, d. 1934 DC m. John W. Ball they had Mary Alice Ball m. A. Rosenberger, Alma Watson Ball m. S. Shipp, Bessie A. Ball m. George P. Twombley, said Moslena Ball m. M.H. Shipp and Florence Shipp m. I.C. Wells, her mother.

Before I started doing genealogy this is the farest back in time "The Shipp Family History" went.

3. RICHARDS, Sophia Ann b. 1826 VA, d. c1866 VA m. Bushrod P. Edwards they only had the said Mary E. Edwards, no other female lines to be tested, her mother

4. FLEMING, Jane b. 1798, d. 1876, m. Thompson H. Richards had: said Sophia Ann Richards m. B.P. Edwards and Elizabeth Jane Richards m. T.A. Ramsey, her mother

5. HULETT, Hannah b. c1771 NJ?, d. VA m-1 Francis Marra, m-2 Thomas Fleming
She & Francis Marra believe had a daughter Margaret, she & Thomas Fleming had said Jane Fleming m. T.H. Richards and Mary Fleming who married Andrew Fleming, her mother.

6. LIPPINCOTT, Anna m. Thomas Hulett, she married after his death Wm. Walker removed to Hampshire Co. VA, according to Chancery Suit Filed in Frederick Co. VA had daughters: Winifred Hulett m. Joseph Berry, Sarah Hulett m. David Marney, daughter married to John Rankin & Hannah Hulett married Francis Marra & second to Thomas Fleming, her mother.

7. RAY, Genet b. c1705 NJ m. Daniel Lippincott d. 1741 NJ, I have a copy of his will, they had: Elizabeth Lippincott m. Francis White, Audria Lippincott & said Anna Lippincott m. in NJ to Thomas Hulett.

On the net a researcher has connected Genet RAY family with the Scottish Family of Robert Rea/Rhea who married Janet Hampton. Said Janet Hampton was the daughter of John Hampton of Scotland & Monmouth Co. NJ. I descend through a son of said John Hampton Sr.

Said Robert Rhea will filed in Monmouth Co. NJ named his children: David, Elizabeth, Catherine, Margaret & Mary.

I do not have the Mitochondrial DNA profile for Janet Hampton, could be "L" but I rather doubt it. In any case, the documents filed in Monmouth Co. NJ would show she was not the mother of said Genet Ray.

I am looking for mixed race mother of Genet Ray. This female blood line is showing "L". I believe I need to go back about three more generations.

If you know of another Mitochondrial DNA connected with the above blood line I would appreciate knowning about it directly. So I can spend my time collecting new information about this blood line.
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "V.D.S" seeking the ancestry of Thomas Clevenger born 1824 OH died 1897 IN married to Mary.......? He did not have the parentage of said Thomas Clevenger.

I thought he might have a link with McKay family through Clevenger, but other's tree does not have that link.

However, this blood line has Richard Lippincott & Abigail Goody, he through son Restore and I through another son.

He also has: Budd, Stockton, Garwood, Shinn (could be linked to McKay) & Gaskill.

So he is a distant cousin with the above families.

Found on Ancestry DNA project researcher "Glitter Crump" descend of Wm. Melton & wife Lettice White through their daughter Mildred Melton (1761-1820) married James Eubank, their son Thomas Melton Eubank.

I descend from said couple's daughter Sarah Melton who married her cousin John Melton.

A third DNA match from descend of their son Reuben, who has also send in his Y marker.

So from this couple we have three DNA matches, all coming down to the ancestry of Amanda E. Melton.
I have a match with another Melton researcher, I have three separate Melton lines back to emigrate Wm. Melton of early VA.

Ancestry DNA Project has researcher "G.M.H." descend of Wm. Melton & Lettice White through their son Reuben. I descend from their daughter Sarah Melton who married her cousin John Melton.

So this could explain our shared DNA, but I am more interested in her Edwards line.

She is a descend of Nancy Louise Edwards born 1760 died 1831 in King George Co. VA. Husband Joseph C. Pittman 1762-1835 same location.

She does not give her parentage as a number of trees on Ancestry.

I want to figure out if her line was a daughter of George Edwards whose will filed in King George Co. VA 1780, named wife as Mildred........? (1730-1780) named children: James, Jane, NANCY, Lucy, George, Winney, Ernold, Joseph Elizabeth & Susannah.

I have the ancestry of said George back to the same emigrate found in my line.

Still looking for a Edwards male to come forward with DNA information surrounding Y markers of Edwards in Wales & VA.

Is this line of Edwards found in early VA really descends of King Henry VIII ? DNA test could give us the answer.
