Since I found out my Taylor line in 1988 I did not grow up with any Family Tales. Most Taylor researchers doing research in VA think they are related to President Zachariah Taylor & John Madison.

I found the maiden name for Samuel A. Rudd's wife living in NE at the local L.D.S. library, before that time no one in my mother's family had any idea as to her Family Name. Since that time I found the records to take her male line back to a Taylor in SC who I think descends from the Taylors of Barbados to SC.

SC--The first colony was established in The Ashley River in the southeastern part of the state in 1671. The Settlers were a group of English people direct from the Old World and another group, the members of which had been living on the Barbados Islands. They called their settlement Charles Town.

2. Chapman Taylor b. c1748 SC, m. Julia Ann, d. 1823 AL. He was with SC Militia (Rebel Side) during American Revolutionary War

3. Joshua Taylor b. 1791 GA, m. Mary E. Cooksey, d. 23 Aug 1850 Union Co. KY

4. Aaron Taylor b. 1813 Russellville, Logan Co. KY m. Nancy Gist, d. 1857 Morganfield, Union Co. KY. Gist Family can count themselves among The First Families of TN. At least the name is on a monument. Number of her male relations fought in the American Revoluntary War. Another one of her relations (half Cherokee) make up The Cherokee Alphabet.

5. Mary Ann Taylor b. 1838 m. Samuel A. Rudd, d. 1926 Morganfield, Union Co. KY, they were my gr-gr-grandparents.

There is absolutely no reason to think any of my above Taylor Family never lived in VA. They lived in SC, GA to KY. Chapman removed with his son and died in AL.

What I am looking for males who belong to this family to be tested. Since R1b1c is a rather common Haplogroup might need a test above the 12 marker test. I hope for another letter, I have enough "R" in my family tree lately.

Found Ancestry DNA Site DNA sample given by "Kerrigansparks" line of Mary Taylor born 18 Nov 1800 SC married Jacob Weaver (1799-1864) died 27 Sep 1877 Darke Co. OH.

My interested in her line, my William Taylor born c1727 SC died Logan Co. KY divided his lands in that location into four parts to his sons.

It would appear her grandfather could have been a brother to my Wm. So I want to find out more about her line.

Ancestry as 10 Autosomal DNA samples on file with all confirming their line back to and we descend from different children of said couple Peter & Elizabeth (Fielding) Rucker. I do not believe I have other lines in common with them.

4. Nancy Cooke born 1780 NC, d. c1859 Carroll Co. TN married Lemuel Rust. Same Rust family that intermarried with "our" McKay. I have Autosomal matche with a researcher from the VA branch of the family.

5. Dawsey Rust born 1805 Orange Co. NC d. c1850 Carroll Co. TN marired Noah Hampton. His family as several Autosomal Matches on file with Ancestry DNA and Family Tree DNA.

6. Winnie Ridley Hampton b. Apr 1830, d. 19 Jan 1901 Yuma, Carroll Co. TN married first Wm. Presley King. Believe her grave marker can be found on "Fine a Grave".

7. Hansford Duncan King b. 23 Mar 1857, d. 5 May 1927 Yuma, Carroll Co. TN married Fredonia Jane Derryberry. I have Autosomal match with another descend of his grandfather Thomas King. I have several Autosomal matches for Fredonia J. Derryberry's Shipman cousin, but none with Derryberry.

8. Joseph Hulon King b. 21 Jul 1883 Yuma, Carroll Co. TN, d. 23 Jan 1963 Alton, Madison Co. Il married Dessie Green Bolen. I have found many Autosomal Matches for her Bolen, Mangum, Carrington, Cozart (double line), Melton, Fortune, Duke & Reeves. Morris a Y marker and my DNA marker for her Brown ancestry.

Joseph --my great-grandfather down three more generations. I am 11 generation from said Peter Rucker.

Found Ancestry DNA site sample given by "G.G" his line from Jeremiah Lamkin born 1595 London, England died 1660 Surry Co. VA wife Martha (1600-1640) his son Thomas Lamkin born 1620 died 1665 wife Eleanor Lusher.

We share a 10th gr-grandfather (Jeremiah). I descend from his brother:

There were my 3rd great-grandparents

John Hampton born in Scotland died 1702 in Monmouth Co. NJ. Was a Quaker and had nine children: Janet, Elizabeth, Lydia, John, David, Andrew, Jonathan, NOAH (my line) & Joseph.

I have isolated 11 kit results as belonging to four of the above children: Noah (4, and one all the way down to Winnie), Andrew (3), John (2) & Lydia (2).

There might be more some of the researchers keep their files private. And I believe Family Tree DNA has more samples, that I have not figured out as of now.

There are Y markers listed in public through Family Tree DNA, showing the differences between the above group and the English Hampton. Now if researchers would only use this new tool.

I have four different Brown families to collect DNA samples. I have found one to confirm my line from Abraham Brown born c1636 RI died 1714 Mansfield Burlington N.J. wife Cattron, they were English Quakers.

Their daughter Martha Brown married 1687 Monmouth Co. NJ found Shrewbury Quaker Records to John Hampton a Quaker from Scotland.

I descend through their son Noah Hampton who died c1775 present day WVA.

The other DNA sample from Abraham through his son Preserve Brown born 1699 Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co. NJ, married Mary French and died 1760 Burlington Co. NJ.

Their son Thomas married Mary White, descendant of the Job family. Some of their descendants intermarried with Steer, McKay and Du Bois descendants.

I have at least 25 DNA matches with the ancestors of Rachel Ridgeway who married Jacob McKay. The problem is I really have not be able to separate out her Brown Ancestry.

I could have found a brother of my Richard Brown, son of John Brown & Hannah Ridgeway, but not sure.

I receive notice of matches through Ancestry daily, but perhaps someone's sample will turn up.

I know all about Thomas Brown who married Mary White, listed on my Mackay book page 26. I have seven of their children listed. I believe some removed to OH.

He was a descend of the TROUBLESOME BROWN--James Brown husband to Honor Clayton. They were Quakers who removed from Boarsworth, Northamptonshire, England. Founder of the Nottingham Meeting House in PA/MD.

This is the couple researchers still list as the parents of ANN BROWN who married Robert Mackay Sr. Just because it was printed in Job/Jobe Journal--it must be true!! And still all over the net.

Some of our Robert Mackay cousin have Ann' parentage listed as James & Honor (Clayton) Brown on Ancestry which also shows up on their DNA profile.

I have some interesting DNA matches with Scottish Brown researchers, will post later. Some match up with old Scottish Parish records as far as location.

I have a rather interesting Orange Co. NC DNA Match I will post on Mitochondrial Posting.

Since I believe in full disclosure--I have a DNA match which links a researcher's (not Mackay cousin) sample to said James Brown & Honor Clayton and so it would seems to link me to said James Brown.

Found Ancestry "mompom1114" line of

1. James Brown & Honour Clayton their son

2. Jeremiah Brown born 1689, died 1767 m. Mary Royal

3. Patience Brown born 1712 PA died 1783 NC m. 1735 Joshua Hadley.

Now I like the fact that the third generation did die in NC, but I e-mail researcher she did not have record of my Elizabeth Brown born in Orange Co. NC 1780.

And I have not found the time to check if her line does go back to said couple. And I have not been able to view her tree on Ancestry, at the moment DNA site is down. To rule out a link with another surname.

With my past dealing with researchers who claim descend from said couple, I am rather cautious when reseachers tell me they are descendants of the above couple.

And according to Brown researchers the computer files linked with this couple are a MESS.

New posting appear on my Ancestry DNA daily, when it is working!!, so if I can find additional samples which I match and they match with James & Honor (Clayton) Brown, that will be a major break through.

But not for ANN Brown, but for my ELIZABETH Brown.

I have order additional reports about my J 1 c 8 results. If they give any interesting information I will pass it along. The two matches I received notice "being a match" have not been helpful.

This results, however, has settle any thought this female line contained African-American or Native American.

The records I have order and studied for Henderson Co. TN, I can't find a legal document naming the parents of said Elizabeth (Brown) Morris. If the records exist then I will have to find them in other counties in TN or in Orange Co. NC.

I am still looking for good documentation as to the children of Isaac Morris & said Elizabeth Brown.

I am aware others have posted information about my line on the "net" and a good amount of the information they do not give their sources.

I have been looking through my Mitochondrial Marker test results a path to find the parentage of my Elizabeth Brown. Looking for a researcher who matches on this side of the ocean.

That site has not been as helpful as my two Autosomal accounts on Ancestry & Family Tree DNA.

My two complete matches with my female numbers to men's samples, one oldest female line Norway 1800's and the other Wales about the same 1800's. Not very helpful.

The only thing this tells me Elizabeth Brown was most likely not Scottish but a member of the Anglo-Saxon movement into early England.

On file Ancestry DNA site DNA sample given by Linda McDermott her line:

Sylvia Brown born 1812 Orange Co.NC died 1880 Orange Co. NC, married 1835 Orange Co. NC to Wilson Wesley Garrett born 1808 died 1870.

Orange Co. NC Marriage Records (secondary) list couple as:
Garrard, Willson & Sylvia Brown 22 Jun 1835, bond Wm. H. Holden.

Looking at her tree I do not see any other link with her other surnames other than said Brown Family of Orange Co. NC.

She and other researcher do not give the names of her parents. Married in Orange Co. NC before year of her birth:

1. George Brown born 1784, d. 1863 Orange Co. NC married 11 Dec 1811 Orange Co. NC to Rebecca Stevens. Some of the researcher name their children, but not Sylvia. Which could mean they just have incomplete listing. The census 1820 & 1830 show female of her age group.

2. Thomas Brown born 1785 died 1862, marrried in Orange Co. NC Ann Dannelly. According to Ancestry Tree son of Augustine Brown born 1745 Sussex Co. VA m. Mary Richardson.
Some of the tree list the children: Augustine Jr., Richard, Hannah & said Thomas.

Both George & Thomas would be the same generation as my Elizabeth Brown.

I have posted a note on Linda McDermott's tree, but she has not signed in for a year. I hope some of the other researchers working on this line will e-mail me.

The question also becomes can our two samples link up with the sample given by "mompom114" stated as descend of James & Honour (Clayton) Brown ?

The problem with this sample, is she is also a descend of

Mary Haines born 1752 VA married Benj. Grainger born 1758 died 1795 Rowan Co. NC.

She also has Mangum ancestry. So we might not share the above Brown ancestry, but Haines & Mangum.

In any case, I want to review any DNA match where Brown lived in Orange Co. NC.

Found Ancestry samples given by "Ardiamond5988" & "DHG" their line comes from Abraham's brother Thomas Brown who was also a son of Nicholas Brown of early NJ.

They are linked to Wm. Brown born 16 Nov 1726 Bucks Co. PA died 2 Feb 1800 Orange Co. NC married Hannah Moon.

Their son Thomas Hood Brown born 1749 Cane Creek, Orange Co. NC married 20 Aug 1772 Jane Jean Adams, d. 1842 Orange Co. NC.

I like the location, but the DNA material I share with these two researchers comes from my Brown into Hampton line which comes down to me from my mother's side. I have no idea if they hook into my family of Elizabeth Brown born 1780 in Orange Co. NC.

With the issue of James Brown husband to Honour Clayton, I think his brother Wm. Brown is a better bet as far as connecting to my Elizabeth Brown.

Found in Ancestry DNA project "hutzler 81" descend of Janet Hampton b. 1668 in Scotland married Robert Rhea.

Her father John Hampton had nine children: Janet (1 kit), Elizabeth, Lydia (2 kits), John (2 kits), David, Andrew (3 kits), Jonathan, Noah (4 kits) & Joseph.

I would like to find out more about David Hampton if he removed to present day WV.

His will dated 1775 filed in Hampshire Co. VA/WV named three children: Andrew, Marthy & Ann. I have three DNA matches for my line through Andrew, two different sons out of five.

One for daughter Marthy and two for daughter Ann running through Pursley family of SC.

I will have to remember to ask them to check to see if they have matches with Cloud.
