The L.D.S. family search lab has the 1850 Slave Schedule on line. I did not see any Lewis Pilcher listed for that time period in MO or KY.

Of course, you will want to seach the records for Fayette Co. KY to see if they removed to that area with slaves. The Pilcher of Caroline Co. VA and Culpeper Co. VA had slaves. I have found in the past if a person entered a State with slaves from any other State-- they had to registry the names of the slaves in the local court. This is what would hope you can find for your Lewis & Beverley Pilcher.

You will find these records in the will books and land deeds. The L.D.S. library has court records to rent for both locations where your ancestor lived in KY & MO.

If find out more about my Daniel Pilcher of Fauquier Co. VA and if I run across a Lewis or Beverley Pilcher I will post that information here only. Not on Root Web or Ancestry.Com.

Good luck with your research.

Dee Ann,
I read one of your post on the pilcher message board on ancestry. I love that you were unwilling to take what others seem to have thrown together as the Final Word....I hate that people put stuff on ancestry that seems to have no basis and cannot be proven.
Ok enough of the tangent. You were looking for info on the pilchers in VA and I was wondering if you had any luck. I am searching for ancestors of Lewis Pilcher b.ca 1789 in VA...he was married in KY in 1815 to Susannah Cobb Moon. I know he had a brother Beverly....I have found their marriage info in records and military records of Beverly and Lewis....but I cannot find anything definitive on their parentage...though if I was willing to accept it they are descended from Lewis Fielding Pilcher....oh well, if you have any info I would appreciate it. I try to send an email to the person or persons running this site as to their source for giving the birth place of Robert Mackay Sr. as Ireland, but the message was return.

Also his youngest son's name was only Moses McKay.

It looks like nothing has been done on that website since 2000. The email address is likely to an account that has been deactivated since then. I think it's possible she may have abandoned it and forgot that it was still up. Unfortunately that ends up being the case with some of these cousin websites. Here today and gone tomorrow.

My reasons for linking them is not necessarily because I think they have factual data but because they are simply websites run by cousins of ours. I do believe I put a disclaimer up on the links page mentioning that people should take the genealogy info. in them with a grain of salt.

At risk of sounding like "Johnny One Note", Pilcher Autosomal test results found on Ancestry & Family Tree DNA. My samples found on both sites.

So if you send in a sample we could see if we share a piece of DNA.

The entries on Ancestry I have looked at I rather doubt the material posted by the researchers and I question their lines of descend.

My line lived in Fauquier Co. VA with Daniel Pilcher (1786-1854) married twice my line from Matilda Jett. I have been able to confirm my line from Matilda Jett from various Jett Autosomal test kit.

I have not been happy with finding any siblings of my Daniel Pilcher. He might have been only child.

Rather old book on Pilcher compiled 1950's has all Pilcher coming into US "three brothers from Wales". Now could be true, but I think Y markers done for Pilcher are not matching.

Since I do not have a Y marker for Pilcher I am in able to see the raw material.

I think my line linked in some way to Peter Pilcher of Culpeper Co. VA. But I have not found the time to order lands deeds for that area of VA.

My Family Tree DNA Family Finder only has my two sons: Travis D. and Brandan P. Buck as Pilcher matches. So not useful.

Ancestry DNA Family Finder has five matches which at this point really not helpful. As more Pilcher researcher do their DNA we might figure all this out. I really have a lot of questions about the old text which states that "all" Pilcher who live in US descend of "three brothers from Wales". The problem is if researchers just use this information in their tree we really do not know if their DNA sample really is from Wales or somewhere else.

I have seen the parish records of Kent, England for myself that the surname lived in that location. I have not found the same from parts of Wales. I do not know if others have.

My matches on Ancestry DNA Family Finder, if you have Ancestry who can view my tree and look at them for yourself.

1. "JB" he is just a descend of my John Washington Ball who was a descend of Daniel Pilcher through same line as mine. And he does not know Daniel's parentage.

2. "AEN" tree Neese Illinois Family descend of Millie Pilcher born 1804 Surry Co. NC married Wm. Miller. She does have Fishback, could be a link with my Edwards Family of Fauquier Co. VA

3. "SH" descend of Alice Pilcher born 1749 VA died 1827 VA? m. in GA to Sylvania Walker. But she could be a distant Schaub cousin in same part of Germany.

4. "TAW" descend of the group of Pilcher from Wales to Va Robert Pilcher. But we share Pugh, Rust, Cox and Cole.

5. "WJM" descend of Mary Pilcher b. 1710 Canterbury, England died same location in 1746 married to Wm. Hobday. But we are known cousin of Gist and Murray of early MD.
